Are rising fuel costs really putting people off driving uneconomical cars?

Is your new car more economical?0

Well fuel consumption is about half that of the Laguna, so yes.
Answers my own question for myself but then I already knew that _I_ was put off driving an uneconomical car :rotfl:0 -
To a certain extent, yes.
Going back 5 or 6 years, I've had a couple of V8's and a couple of V6's. Then I've went on to diesels and more recently, just over a year running old cars on veg oil (as you know).
However, this is also down to changing circumstances. 4 kids and losing an income contributed too.
Once we get the second income back, it'll be time for a toy again. Probably older and with a big petrol engine that sounds great, it wont be used much, more of a fun car.0 -
I am pretty surprised they sold it that quickly, unless it's actually off to auction because of the fact it needs a new NSF alloy wheel.... *ahem*
30MPG, £235 tax, high insurance group, etc. I guess the insurance thing is less of an issue for older drivers than it was for me, mind.0 -
I was hoping the bmw 750ils would be getting to banger money by now so I can have had the full house of all the models for a play with but they are still holding their value.0

I want one of these at some point when I can afford to have something mental in the garage for occasional use.0 -
Big 7s are a pain in the !!!! to work on but an absolute dream to drive. check for a rusty petrol tank, one of the worst I have ever had to do. Next time I'd be quicker fitting an lpg kit. Stick with the original tyre sizes for a magic carpet quality ride.0

Love the look of the 635csi although whenever I've looked recently I'm drawn to 2.8 and 3.0 capris.0

You can sell any car if the price is right. I certainly would not buy and uneconomical car at all unless my commute changed massively.
Also if I was going to buy an uneconomic car a 2.0l Laguna wouldn't be my choice!0
