If we're going to get picky, it would be 'failure to provide a signed declaration'. And as the OP arrived and was willing and prepared to provide such a declaration...
Precisely.(I'm surprised at myself-usually I am that picky!)As I said.."if there was one"-but if the customer was not prepared to wait until he/she could be seen (without good reason...)0 -
I've absolutely no reason to believe that she is winding me up. But you never know.0

It does sound like a wind-up.
Promotions are usually based on bluffing your way through an interview talking crap about hypothetical situations.0 -
Hi Cassie,
Just a quick Question, do I always see the same advisor, it was my first sign on last week since my appointment, I was told to go to P1 I think, anyways just wondered if it will be the same one,
thanks
sam
hi Sam-it depends how they run the signing in your JC. Where I work there are 2 of us who usually do the 'stage 1' signing so there's a 50/50 chance that you will see the same person-but we do prefer to do it that way if we can for continuity, and it saves having to spend part of out precious 4 minutes looking back over the past couple of weeks or so. Stage 2 and 3 usually see the same person every week, barring sick/annual leave cover. Also if we do happen to be running late one of the Personal Advisers might 'pitch in' from time to time.
Which is why I disagree that 'all' JCP staff are unhelpful, rude and spend all their time gossiping. It just doesn't happen where I work.(Except when someone brings their baby in...yeugh)0 -
Successive governments have lied (and still do) about the true state of unemployment in Britain. It does not sound inconceivable to me that brownie points will be awarded to those in the position of massaging the figures in some way ie less claimants, the better the figures. I've no reason to disbelief this person. She has suggested that this personal advancement advice was never overt, there is nothing on paper, just slightly more than hinted at.0

I think they were winding you up dogfish. This is never mentioned in any kind of promotion exercise (if we had any which I can't remember for years!)
Actually it probably used to work quite well, in the old days of the personal off-flow target... which no longer exists, for precisely this reason.
OP - why did you not advise the JCP before the appointment that you were going to be late? They can be extremely busy and if you turn up on the hoof you'll get put to the back of the queue. I doubt the person you were due to see was on lunch, more likely they had 3-4 other people in the queue before them and you were asked to wait your turn.
Next time, call them first and get a time to attend, don't just miss your appointment and turn up when you're done expecting to be seen immediately. That way you'll be seen more promptly when you arrive.0 -
Thx Adeterial, if I'm reading your post correctly then my friend is not winding me up, perhaps just a little in the past.0
