    Its more than 2 events.

In the last few days Japan one of the richest nations in the world has had :

    1. Earthquakes one about 9 magnitude and several about 6 more than the one in New Zeland. Hundreds of other aftershocks still keep happening.

    2. Tsunami washing inland about 10 KM. Killing more than 10K people leaving up to half a million people homeless.

    3. Volcano's erupting all over Japan, not too serious yet. But they are saying Mt Fuji is showing activity that 'could' lead to the long anticipated big blow.

    4. The nuke crisis and explosions at the plant spreading deadly radiation into the air. It is still unknown or not released just how serious this will prove to be in the long term.

    5. Although nothing in comparison to the other 4, food and water shortages as store shelves are empty. Power and water not reaching many homes. It doesnt sound much but you imagine no power and pitch black after dark. All the candles sold out very quickly.

they are all related to the earthquake however (well only a possible in case of volcanos but a strong possible).

this is the sort of major disaster situation in which a nuclear crisis is more likely to happen really. and what makes nuclear crises so much worse it that it hinders the rescue operation. sadly those in the worst hit areas are being left to die.

    Fair point.

Could there be a lesson there?

Seconded - too many odious views passed off as jokes or serious debate on these forums.

Wouldn't be the strangest thing ever - the quake was powerful enough to shake the Earth's axis!

When the nuclear reactors blew up on the Moon in 1999 it ended up flying off into space and bumping into loads of aliens in cheap rubber suits... maybe that's where we're headed next.

So are you saying its just a coincidence about the volcano erupting and the others including Fuji showing unusual activity?

Maybe Earthquakes do not cause volcanos to erupt but they can certainly be an influence.

That big quake a few days ago magnitude of 9 was enough to shake the Earths axsis and move Japan a few metres.

Mr Fish-bulb thinks its entirely a coincidence that that volcano erupted and it would have done any way without all the Earth quakes.

Woh woh woh. All Mr Fishbulb did was post a link to a US Government agency who would probably know what they're talking about.

They have a Contact Us page if you would like to take it up with them - http://earthquake.usgs.gov/contactus/regional.php :)
