not just 'radiation' either but radio active isotopes of iodine 131. there's no acceptable levels of that in tap water afaik.

A radiation leak at a Japanese reactor has tainted spinach and milk at nearby farms and spread radioactive iodine in drinking water as far away as Tokyo,Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
So the news is all crap saying there is no danger. They should evac Tokyo already?0

These are live webcam images of the reactor exploding

All that radioactive plume thrown up into the air doesnt look good.
We will only really know if they are telling the truth about radiation levels in few years time when we see the number of victims. But maybe they will cover this up as well.0 -
Spinach 65 miles from plant contaminated by leaks
Traces of radioactive iodine found in Tokyo tap water
Britons in Japan issued with iodine tablets
Painstaking rewiring work to restart cooling system
Japanese officials tell evacuees to take iodine to guard against cancer
Engineers may still be forced to bury plant under concrete
Another aftershock of 6.1 on the richter scale hits Japan

These aftershocks are still going on on a daily basis. Bigger than New Zealand had.
Could another 6.1 near the plant cause another explosion I wonder?
They should just bury it all now under tonnes of sand and concrete, what are they waiting for? The longer they wait the more deaths in the coming years.0 -
Now the news is talking about consumer confidence about buying anything from Japan will be worried about radiation.
Of course its rubbish that buying a Sony TV or DVD player will bring radiation into your home. But the truth does not matter when fear spreads.
I can see the events of last week being a world changer. The global markets are in for a shock.0 -
What is this new smoke coming out of reactor number 3?
Its been about 2 weeks now have all reactors melted down, even partial meltdown? I would be surprised if they have not yet, cooling systems still not working. Fire trucks or helicopter drops can only do tiny amounts of water.0 -
Yea the radiation must be the biggest worry.
I read this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-12722435
shows how serious it is.
I still do think its being covered up, because all around the world they want to keep building nuke power stations. They have carbon imission targets that are very hard to meet without nuke power.0 -
They are now reporting the greater Tokyo area has dangerous levels of radiation in tap water. Just as we predicted days ago on this very thread.
Somehow they say its only dangerous for kids, I don`t see how it could be safe for adults.
This clearly has been a big cover up and it is far worse than they are telling us. This seems to be true right from the start of the crisis.0 -
Great good news story regarding how the Japanese are managing to turn their infrastructure around. They reparied this incredibly badly damaged stretch of road in just 6 days:

I thought it was interesting that only those younger than a certain age were being given iodine as it turns out that statistically the damage done by radioactive iodine in the thyroid takes longer to have an effect than the older people's life expectancy.
I can not understand why the concept that something is only dangerous for children should be a tricky one - or do you give your kids alcohol, adult does of ibuprofen etc?sellaconcepts wrote: »They are now reporting the greater Tokyo area has dangerous levels of radiation in tap water.
