The Japanese would prefer to stay in Japan even if it means death.

So what is the latest news now, some news says radiation not that bad. Some say in Chiba just South of the power station people have red boils on skin and skin burned like sunburn but there is no sun. Many are puking like radiation sickness but the official line is its levels are safe.

that doesn't really make sense. chiba is 200 miles south (and just to the east) of tokyo. if they have radiation sickness we should be seeing this in tokyo also, not least as the winds have been blowing the other way so couldn't be put down to weather patterns.

Chiba prefecture boarders the one with nuke fallout. It is just bellow the nuke plant. A lot nearer than Tokyo.

Hey did you see the nuke plant owner brake down and cry on Jap TV? He now admits to a cover up and melt down has happened and its far worse than they let on.

posted on the other thread. has there been any info on the water supply? this could pose a bigger risk than airborne radiation reading in tokyo.

I am in contact with friends in Tokyo. They are having blackouts with electricity and water is on and off. But as to radiation in the water what a terrible thought. All bottled water sold out the first day of the crisis with panic buying.

the water in tokyo seems to come from lake okutama fed by the tama river - the source of which appears to be in the exclusion zone? today first reports of food contamination of milk and spinach from areas 20 miles away from the plant.

there will be civilian deaths from this.

If this is true they should be taking steps to provide Tokyo with a different source of water.

So with that Japanese guy crying and admitting the radiation levels have been covered up, will the other news outlets around the world start reporting the truth?

they are now reporting radiation has been detected in tokyo's tap water. however again saying it is within 'safe' levels. personally i have my doubts. they seem to be counting each bit of exposure individually but if you are getting a ct scan from walking around, another one from a shower, another one from food cooked in the water then it all adds up. it's impossible to say how much exposure the water will give you because how much water consumption are they judging? one hand wash or all your clothing and bedding laundered, each time you go to the toilet, each time you cook rice in it?

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-03-19/radiation-found-in-milk-spinach-from-near-japan-nuclear-plant.html

Samples of tap water taken March 18 in Tokyo and five nearby prefectures showed traces of radiation that were within acceptable levels, the Japanese government said.

    acceptable to whom?
