Yes, that's better G II... but that tip is a given which I have no quarrel with.

I came here to publicise some surprising OTT enforcement by pseudo police in funny little camera cars employed by local authorities to snoop and pounce.

Do you think a real policeman would have written a ticket for the same offence? As someone that has enjoyed the discretion exercised by real traffic policemen once or twice over the years, and who has admitted to a fair cop a few times in getting on for 40 years of driving, I do doubt it. On a busy weekday yes, but that day when there was hardly a dozen cars from one end of Commercial Street to the other ... I reckon some civility and an apology by me for missing it would have saved my sixty quid.

Which leads me back to thinking: what does this other fellow with the new uniform and shiny dinky toy with twiddly bits say he does when people ask him? And if he says he is a policeman I wonder what he says when asked why his trousers are constantly all creased up where he folds himself into that silly little box :rotfl:

If motorists obeyed the road signs, they wouldn't need to "snoop."

If they put police officers in these cars, there would be complaints that he police have better things to do.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark
• JBH ... another armchair motorist? I shall be driving in four other countries in Europe in the next few days - could you urgently let me know if you really think it might be best for all if I postpone it, Jeff ? I am sure your opinion might be the sagest advice a prospective MSE motorist might receive before the off ... :p

Anyway, back to the job in hand and with only two days before I'd have to pay £120, I paid my hard-earned, easily-lost sixty quid today via the convenient online payment system at www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/payonline mentioned on the pack of the ticket. I had to use my imagination of PCN scams a little bit and chose the Parking Fine link because this wheeze is so new that there was no other valid link offered. After all, it is just an extension of their thinking on jolly Parking Fine wheezes. I knew I was on the right track when the first thing I was then asked for was the PCN number. I know a grubby money-taking machine when I see one.

Of course, I entered an email address for a receipt and when it arrived, guess who it was from?: automailer@e-paycapita.com . In other words Capita ... that money-grabbing, strangely-establishment-favoured-for-decades outfit behind almost all the major government initiatives for separating unsuspecting punters from their hard-earned dosh whilst going about our transport related daily business.

I shall be glad to get away for a few days. (And don't you dare say anything now, JBH or you FlyBoy :rotfl:).

As has been said i do sit in a nice comfy high arm chair.. But hey - theres enough signage from the pic you gave that even a little old lady in a yugo 45 could see them..

your stupidity costs you dear.

Let us know where you are going, we can advise the locals to move somewhere safer, like Libya. ..;)

I've been stitched up like a kipper
That's what burglars say when their dabs are found all over the gaff.
In the absolute clutter of signs I'd not noticed what I think was a single no left turn sign
You mean this one?613.jpg
Yeah, those white circles with red rings are so hard to spot when you're window shopping, aren't they? smiley-rolleyes007.gif
