I have just rung CS, basically said tough luck, they can change what they want when they want, and they said its because people were absuing the system.
Please God, help me stop spending!

Yep - my guess (working in IT) is that they've done a quick and dirty hack and any link just goes to a static voucher for £20.

    o.m.g.

Thank goodness I've printed all mine already apart from the one due today, but the rest of you should give them hell!!!!!

This is the PM I've just sent to Martin, feel free to email him everyone:

    HELP - TESCO *URGENT*
    Hi Martin

Please see this thread, Tesco have been changing the terms of the Price Check without telling anyone and have now retrospectively changed the max voucher value to £20! Can you help? This is surely not allowed!

I have a copy of the terms, printed THIS MORNING, that caps it at £100. Would Trading Standards or Watchdog be able to help? More importantly, can you get in touch with Tesco about this? This is a very serious breach of their contract with their customers and will leave a lot of people out of pocket. :(

What they are basically saying is - if we're dearer than Asda by more than £10, tough. But they haven't changed their adverts in the press or instore to reflect it! Very sneaky!

    Thanks very much.

    Tara

I would think it's rubbish that it will increase at the till - she was just getting you off the phone I reckon!

I agree, they haven't even managed to train till staff properly to the original offer yet let alone bamboozling them with this one! Can just see the slack jawed saturday girls pawing at the screen on that one, "computer says no!"

I just checked the link for a voucher I was issued yesterday, Was close to £80, luckily I printed it off, when I click now it says £20, so they are changing the old ones too.. don't loose your print off's, Off to spend my voucher now, before this filters down to store level and they only give me £20 for my larger voucher.

Not sure if these would stand up, as they are copied from T's website and could, technically, have been interfered with (though we know that they haven't!).

I googled the phrase "The maximum value of an individual Price Check Voucher is capped at £100." (with the quotes) and google found it... but when I click on the link it takes me to the new version. Anybody who looked at them recently may be able to access the cached version by clicking the "Cached" link on the google search results and then print to pdf?? I thought I had looked at them but the Cached link isn't working for me :(

Perhaps instead of contacting trading standards and the sun etc etc we should contact our friends at Asda- they have a better chance of making a big song and dance out of this!! They'd love to expose Mr T :D

    trading standards contact details.
