Tesco/Asda pricechecker finds here.......

  • That is clearly a statement that only someone with no computer programming knowledge could make. A database containing Asda's own prices and the product barcodes won't be available on their website. Tesco would be relying on a 100% match in the name of the product for your idea to work.

There's many different ways to write the name of the same product - a program wouldn't get that high a proportion of matches across the two.

Just to clarify what I mean, I typed Andrex into both Tescos and Asdas search engines and then chose a product - one that is really distinct so that to the naked eye you and eye would know they are the same. I choose their mositurising wipes refill (I didn't even know such a thing existed!!!).

On Tesco it comes up with 'Andrex Fresh Toilet Tissue Refill'.
On Asda it comes up with 'Andrex Fresh Moistened Toilet Tissue Refill'.

We can see the image, so we can see that they are one and the same product. Unless a market standard uniqie code is added to each (like the barcode) and is displayed for all to see, no computer program in the world can categorically state they are the same product. It simply isn't possible.

Now, if Asda would just give Tesco their database of prices... :rotfl:
  • I've had a look and can't find this anywhere? Also quite a newbie to mse although not to savvy shopping so forgive me if it has already been answered. Has anybody returned an item which they paid for with a dtd voucher, if so, did you get another voucher/gift card, and where they awkward when doing this? Just wandering. Tia

Is there a maximum amount a voucher will be valid for?
There is no limit on the vouchers, other than the fair usage limit

There's no excuse, though - for instance, how long was Tesco charging £19.19 for a litre of Baileys whilst Asda was charging £10?? They must have had this flagged up on the first DTD application that included Baileys (£18.38 is a rather large 'pay back' for one product, after all). but still they persisted with it. That tells me they must have been getting loads sold and just a small proportion of buyers claiming DTD. Tesco are a cynical bunch at the best of times.

olay anti wrinkle cream is 10.20 and in asda its £5

Looks like this applies to almost all the Olay Anti Wrinkle range - 12.25/6 or 10.20/5 :D

The product names on each site are quite different though so this may mean some of them come up as not found.

Yep but it also says a maximum household limit of £100 per month.

One quick question for anyone who knows, my printer ran out of red ink on the second voucher and I don't have another, so have printed in black and white, do you think they will accept it? It does say on the t&c on the voucher no copies.

I only have an old black and white printer does this matter?

i return something before using voucher( taking print out as back up), but either way make sure you have a print out of the results with you to prove it wasn't compared so not part of the dtd.
Thanks Myrtle - I'll do that, cheers :D
