Hey guys,

I'm approx 3 months into an 18 month contract and have just started a new job. I do 40 hours a week so I spend a large proportion of the week there.

The problem is i get no service whatsoever. I need my phone whilst I am at work and so half the time they are not providing me with a service which is their fault for not having a mast in that area.

Is there any way to cancel? I don't mind giving my phone back that I got as i should get one with the provider who does have signal.

Thanks guys.

You say its their fault for not having a mast in the area
but they could just as easily turn round and say its your fault for getting a job where there is no signal

Not sure whether it will work but you could just ring them.

    Absolutely.

Ring them up, pay off the remaining 15 months, and they'll happily let you cancel.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

i duno when they brag about having great coverage across the uk you'd expect to have at least 1 bar when ur at work.

And i'm not about to pay 15 months worth of my contract because they aren't covering an area.

I see what you're saying about how they could turn it around but they are not providing me with a service that i am paying for so why should i have to pay.

    Edit:

Also, when i google my works postcode on oranges signal checker it says good in everything which is absolutely not the case. Surely this is a breach of law in some way as it isnt true?

At work (=indors) you cannot expect anything. You may be lucky to get connection, but you cannot expect.

So is it the postcode or 'at work' ?

Best thing you can do is contact them.

I seem to remember something being on 'Rip Off Britain' on the TV
where a couple of people (with the same trouble as you) got their contracts cancelled.

    Get it all in writing...............

You have nothing to lose by contacting them.

If no joy, buy a cheapie PAYG for use during the day while youre at work

the whole area where i am based at work has nothing whether i am indoors or outdoors.

Colleagues get signal fine on other networks so i doubt the building it causing too much of an issue.

I've rung them and the technical team is looking into it. I'll try and get them to email me the notes but i imagine they cant do that.

I should get a callback hopefully mon/tues apparently.

Need to ask you, are you connected to 3G or 2G. 3G is terrible at the moment, and you can roam on the 2G T-mobile network, so might be better if you just turn off 3G for now until orange fixes their mast

As you're on orange you can now also use the Tmobile network as they have merged - "everything everywhere". Have a look online.

You have to set it up, I got a msg to txt a number but my son did it differently on line somehow.
