    right an update.

They said they could do it, but only if the signal problem was in my residential area. Which to be honest is a joke. The whole point of having a mobile phone is that it's mobile. If i was at home i'd use the landline. I explained this to them in writing as i was told this was the only way i had a chance. Currently awaiting a response.

They don't guarantee signal everywhere, no mobile company does, this is stated in the T&Cs of the contract that you signed. If you were having signal problems at home you'd have a chance at getting out of the contract, no signal at work or some other random place you've got no chance

Trading standards or Ofcom won't do anything, as has already been mentioned, they don't guarantee signal everywhere, that is the nature of a mobile network, just because you don't get any signal at your mates brothers house that doesnt give you the right to cancel your contract

Read the advice given, no network guarantees 100% coverage,it's up to you to check before you sign up.
OFCOM will not even consider your case until you have reached an agreed deadlock-you haven't even begun that process yet, and it will take weeks.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Desire - you have UMA capability if the Kineto Smart-Wifi app for UMA is on your phone, if not James check Android Market....if its not there on Desire or on And Market Orange have a responsability to ensure you have it

UMA = Orange Signalboost, you connect to the network via wifi available mainly on Android and Blackberry

James, it doesn't work this way.

    • When you buy a sim card you chose the network that satisfies you. If you know that signal is poor, you don't buy.
    • If you change your job or move your home and lose signal it's your problem, not the network's.
    • If you signed a contract, you have to pay. If you don't like it don't buy long contracts. Buy 1-month rolling contract or use PAYG instead.

    As simple as that.

Some people are lucky to get contracts cancelled in similar circumstances. However, this is a mater of luck and/or network's goodwill, not because they have to do this.
