New, Cheap compact camera advice

I'm also looking for a new digi camera. I want it to take holiday snaps and vids. I've seen the Panasonic TZ8 for £150 at Sainsburys. It looks good for what I require. Any thoughts on this camera?
As far as i know one cant use zoom feature with panasonics on recording video. Plus battery needs to be removed for charging.
i opted for Olympus as it allows USB charging and has a 3" screen, plus looked a bit easier to use when i played around with them instore.0
