New, Cheap compact camera advice

Lol, OK so now totally confused, I did post the topic cause i new the choice was huge, but while I appreciate the suggestions I'm more confused then ever.
I'm pretty tempter by the Sanyo but don't really know why it just looks like a nice neat camera for a decent price.
And the Panasonic Lumix looks great but it is right at the top end of my budget, is it really worth it.
So much to choose from and so much to take into consideration0 -
The Lumix range of cameras do have a good reputation, and although that one does come with a rechargeable battery and charger, you'd be well advised to buy a spare battery, which isn't your typical supermarket size standard. Also at 14.1 megapixel resolution, you're going to end up with large image files if you actually use that resolution, so a large memory card will be recommended - your existing ones may have limited capacity. Could blow the budget a bit, but still a good camera.

Persoinally I have a Canon Ixus and a digital SLR.
The SLR is the main camera but the Ixus fits almost anywhere. The canon was bought because canons almost invariable get good reviews. Seems to be about the same size as the one you had.
Do I get bad photos out if it, sometimes, it's not as verstile as the DSLR, but for what I wanted it is fantastic, I'd buy one again in a heartbeat when this one dies. It's pretty good in most circumstances it only struggles when I try and get nighttime long exposure without flash shots, but then so do most compacts. I did buy the canon underwater houseing for it, it wasn't cheap but goes down to 40M and more gets used to avoid the camera beign filled with sand and dust than water.
Batteries are not "standard AA" but you can get OEM copies on ebay for £5 each, I have 3 that live with the camrea so I always have one ready.
The one I have is old now, 7MP but still works well, new models are £200 but new "last years models" older ones go as low as £100 on Amazon. I realise it's the top end of what you want to pay but I've seriously never had problems with it. I'd really suggest you consider the ixus range.0 -

Buy Panasonic, Fuji or Canon, forget the rest.

As to SD card size, I have at least 2, 2GB cards, not huge but they should hold a fair few pictures each I would think even at larger image sizes, am I wrong?0 -

Depends on what the picture is of and the quality the camera is set at, but my 10 megapixel Fuji set at its finest mode produces jpeg files which are around 3 to 4 Mb in size.
So a 2Gb card would hold around 500 images. Obviously if you get a camera that can do video, that will eat storage space up!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I'm thinking that maybe a panasonic is the best route, but getting one I can afford might be a struggle, found this on ebay

But am a bit wary of buying something like this off ebay, any thoughts.0 -
What about a Fuji FinePix AX250 refurbished for £38.24 INC Delivery if you use the code P10FEB15 https://secure.fujifilm.co.uk/shop/consumer/digital/digital-cameras/fun-and-easy/finepix-ax2500

I looked at that seller when I was looking for the FS30. Most of the feedback seems to refer to the cameras being US imports with the wrong plugs. I can't see that being much of a problem, but I preferred to pay an extra £15 for a proper UK one with 12 months warranty.0
