● AVG Anti-Virus will still be available FREE

As it says here.
A popup saying that support for 7.1 will soon end isn't making it clear enough that 7.5 is free and now available for download.
(Sorry about the sticky with a "●" in the title - but there are soooo many posts and threads all over the place asking about what to replace AVG with. So I thought a temporary sticky was needed)

EDIT: Just got a screenshot of the offending popup:

It says there is a free 7.5 at the bottom - I'm assuming they haven't changed it?

How long before someone asks this question again? For some reason stickies seem to be invisible to most users! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I'm waiting for the question "what's a sticky?""She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

lol
I know.
That's why I put the ● in the title to try and attract attention. But I don't like doing that in case it catches on and everyone starts putting stuff in titles to make their post stand out.
I know people still won't notice it.
We can but try0 -

Just thought, instead of encrypting my files I could just type "sticky" in front of the names and they would appear invisible to most peopleBit of reverse psychology.

Well there you have it sra, the first post about AVG not being free, since you posted the sticky http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=3542019&postcount=25 thereby supporting the theory that "sticky" is in fact a psychological stealth function"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Errmm ... I own up!
I've been guilty of doing just that in the past
Now check the stickies first. (Slow learner, but getting there!!!):grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing0 -
afternoon, now I really am useless with anything techie so please bare with me, my free trial with Mcafree has just finished, I have looked at your link http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-virus-free but that gives me loads of choices which one would I choose? also when I clicked on the top one avg75free_430a848.exe it said run or save, so firstly which one do I need and do I run it or save it as the instructions are just to update an exsisting one.
many thanks in advancea please & thank you is all it takes :wave:0 -
It's probably better to save it. That way if anything goes wrong, you can just run it again without having to wait for a re-transfer.
After it has downloaded, just double-click the installer and it should take you through the process. From what I can remeber, AVG is very simple to install0
