Just thought i'd let people know the tps does not apply to people calling internationally. I had 18 months of fone calls from 8 am until 10pm,- sometimes just 10 mins apart, I asked them to stop contacting me and remove my number- they never did. It came to ahead when after being kept awake by a new baby and them calling at all hours i did tell them to f**k off, to be then called a f******g stupid b***h, i hung up and he stayed on the line and would not hang up. Everytime i tried to call bt he was still hanging on throwing insults at me. My OH had to come on and face the abuse before he got bored and hung up. BT advised it was due to call centres being moved to India and such other international bases, they are unable to do anything, I had to change my number, have caller id and never answer private, 0870 or any such numbers.

This is how Ofcom view offshore callcentres
Ofcom will take action against any organisation with a UK presence on whose behalf calls are made from an offshore centre where those calls constitute acts of persistent misuse.
  • If you start the conversation along the lines that you are a tenant they are usually not interested which makes `em go away without you needing to be abrupt/rude. Think about it - we nearly all on here `cos we need money and some of these people do this for exactly the same reason - I know - I've done something similar.
  • Thought I would refresh this old thread as it still seems to be a current issue to some, including myself.
Having rushed to pick up the phone several times in one day to find it go dead, I dialled 1471 and this number came up. Tried to ring them but same result. It cuts off. We have all been there.
Anyway this on is the Exeter branch of The Money Club.
I found their web site www.themoneyclub.co.uk and called them on 01753 733733, and told them I was getting pretty  ****** off with this and please remove me from their database. They have assured me they will call Exeter branch and do so. I have yet to find out if they were true to their word.

I was going to say something similar. Decidedly offtopic plugging on there.

withabix, perhaps if you took the time to check your facts you might end up with the ability to make a worthwhile contribution to this forum.

    :rotfl:

You will probably find that it would appear, in fact, that I do (on both counts).

Unlike YOU, who have ONLY ever posted about The Mon(k)ey Club.

THEY ARE A BUNCH OF COLD CALLING SPAMMERS. END OF STORY.

EDIT: Oh look, Raoul LeDuke's posts have disappeared. Funny that isn't it....

  • i found this forum after receiving several missed call's from this number and as with anyone that would read the thing's that have been written about the club, I was put off straight away because of the things that had been written on this and other threads.

It would appear that most of you probably aren't even members and that you know very little about the club and that your opinions are, sadly, based on your own lack of trust in others.

I had another call today from a lady, who was perfectly polite when i pointed out that i had received several missed calls from them but couldn't return the calls and how frustrating it was. I also pointed out the bad reviews that i had also read - her response was a fair one "with over 150,000 members a handful of bad reviews is no more or less than any other company has if you look".

I think that the few pathetic immature individuals that think that telling the call centre staff to f***k off probably aren’t really the kind of clientele that the money club appears to be looking for to start with - the way it was presented to me is that it's for people that, due to work and other commitments don’t have time to sit and search the internet - clearly if you have nothing better to do than to sit at home swearing at people and searching the internet running down company’s that have little to do with yourselves - then you clearly have time to search yourself.

I'm now a member, purely because out of all the threads on here - only two people have been members - the rest of you seem to enjoy wittering about things you clearly no nothing about - and if it is all a big bloody scam you can all laugh heartedly at me for being such a fool.....trust me you’ll be the first to know! And no i don't work for them i just feel that everyone deserves a fair chance - you all like telling people what you think - i thought i'd have a bash too!

Excellent. That validates my approach to take when these spammers keep cold-calling then. :D If the telesales spammers don't like being insulted, maybe they should go and get a proper job.

If they were such a good, respectable company, they wouldn't need to rely on seedy and underhand cold calling from a non-returnable number as their main marketing method, would they? No.

Just to make their ILLEGAL ACTIONS perfectly clear: They are committing an offence under the Privacy and Electronic (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 every time they cold-call someone who is registered with the Telephone Preference Service.

I would encourage anyone who is TPS registered and is cold-called by The Money Club to report them here:

    http://complaints.tpsonline.org.uk/Consumer/Default.aspx

Maybe the above poster is another stooge/call centre worker for The Mon(k)ey Club then? Or are they maybe offering a discount on their rip-off fees for posting support for them on forums? :rotfl:
