Ok, if the OP was pulling a fast one, and it had been damaged sometime after delivery, why would they have kept the transit bolts this length of time? OP do you still have any of the packaging for the machine? I think these items would help your case in that you've only just unpacked it.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • No one has said that the OP "was pulling a fast one", but how are Comet to know that?

For all they know the washer could have been damaged whilst it was being stored for the last 14 weeks.
As stated earlier, Comet may well help out, but after this length of time I doubt if they are legally obliged to do so, and going in to a store or sending an e-mail "all guns blazing" and quoting various bits of legislation which could do more harm then good isn't really the best way to proceed here.
why would they have kept the transit bolts this length of time?
Maybe because all manufacturers recommend that you keep the transit bolts for as long as you own the appliance so if you have to move it, it can still be protected.

    Hi,

Correct me if I am wrong - but did you not take out an extended warranty - could you not claim on that?

COMET have told us that the extended warranty does not start till the makers warranty runs out and that it would not cover us anyway even if we waited one year !

The MD won't read it anyway. Please don't mention the SOGA 1974, it doesn't exist! You'll find the year is 1979.
