Tried previously from seed and failed miserably. Much better getting the plants I suggest.

Before you go for the ebay purchase check out your local B&M - they have stackable trio planters for £1 each which might do the same job. Poundland do them for £1.50 too I think.

I failed miserably with the seeds as well didnt even get one shoot!

With regard to the trio planters I got mine from Poundland and Poundstretcher last year £1 and 99p I think.

I think Aldi must be due to have their strawberry plants soon usually a pack of 6, 2 each of 3 different varieties, for £2.99. They have not been on yet so must be due as they are always before easter and tend to sell out quickly. Some of my Aldi ones from a few years ago still going strong, or their shooters are. Agree with the shooters, best way to increase stocks.

1.49 is ridiculous. from time to time on here you will see offers as low as 25p per plant. some good varieties too.

I just snip the runners off then plant them, 95% have grown.

Yer that might do, but if you want 100% success then this is the way to do it.

I read that they need light to germinate. Not sure if this is true but this could be your problem if they're in the airing cupboard. Not sure what sort of temperatures they need... maybe you could put them on a warm windowsill?
I bought them out into the light and back in the airing cupboard at night and I now have 3 seedlings, with a few more to follow I hope :j. How is your second sowing doing?

Ooh that's great news! From my first sowing I had a couple germinate around 2 weeks after I'd taken them out of the heated propagator so you should get more hopefully.

My second sowing's doing OK... they've not been eaten by anything yet, which is good!
They actually germinated better than my first sowing so I now have around 20 seedlings but they are a bit close together so I might need to thin them or something (clueless)
I ordered some proper strawberry plants too incase these go completely wrong
