That doesnt actually substantiate it though does it. Its just some council claiming it to be true.

you can laugh all you want but can you substantiate both their claim and the other posters claim that you can use them for free in Austria. Its a simple question sirmarcus.

pilot a scheme which is widely used in Austria

Widely used, so not law then!

    Got it Sirmarcus!

Basically it seems as Jeff Bridges Hair says, local schemes in Austria not law probably where they've closed many public ones and offer some sort of incentive such as payment for shops/resturants to let the public use theirs. There is definately no law.

when i worked at one of the major supermarkets in a central location, which didn't have public toilets, we were under strict instructions that if anyone asked to urgently use a toilet we were to discreetly escort them upstairs through the warehouse to the staff facilities... it happened occasionally, and the people were always very grateful, although slightly disgusted as the warehouse was filthy and the toilets even worse! ever since, i have never found a single place that would let my child use the staff toilet, and think it's utterly disgusting behaviour on the part of retailers.

How many times have you tried????

Either way insurance probably says they can't use staff toilets for customers.

I believe you can get cards from the NHS if you suffer a bowel condition which basically say your condition and you should let them use your toilet. Mind you, I wouldn't expect many of our beloved population to pay any attention to anything like that since we're all rude and self-obsessed these days.

    This card

It appears that you don't need proof of medical condition to obtain it ;)

I might get one - I already have a RADAR key

the NACC do one as well http://www.nacc.org.uk/content/home.asp
and as said above a RADAR key will allow you to get in any locked disabled toilets (if you can find them)
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!

Why would that be any worse than losing a wallet without such a card in? Are people meant to be embarrassed they have medical problems?

The quote mentions a scheme in Austria, not a law. We have such schemes here too, there is no such law here either.

I do feel compassionate for people with medical disorders who need these businesses to let them through, but I don't think debating about people who should be exceptions to the rule has any relevance as to what the rule should be.

Before eating or drinking at any food outlet. I like to wash my hands- if loo area is dodgy. :eek:I would not buy food from their shop/resturant :rotfl:

I learnt this at my Food Hygiene 2, the best advice I was given, was to check the loo's first. If it is dirty, then you can imagine the state of the kitchen. Plus whatever bacteria they would bring back from there into the kitchen, even if they did wash their hands, the handles etc would be dirty :naughty:
