I think the main discussion in this thread is the high and mighty "!!!! takers" lol who will storm into a place probably never spending any money in there although will claim when asked that it's £££'s a month and think it's their god given right to use the loo for free!
But how do you tell the difference. Not all of us carry cards and we dont look physically different. One person here was slated when they said they "would" be going to the toilet due to IBS. People with bowel problems do actually get taken as pi$$ takers if asking to use the toilet, I know one who was shouted at in a supermarket by another customer for using the disabled toilet.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
As local councils seem to be adopting a policy of shutting most public loos after April, perhaps Britain should adopt the laws that they have in Austria - over there, it's the law that EVERY business, that serves the public, has to allow any person in to use their loos, whether they are buying anything or not.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
We've all dropped into Macdonalds for a cheeky toilet stop. However they are a business and are not providing a public toilet service so I don't see you can complain. Just because you visit a shop, restaurant or pub doesn't mean you can have access to their toilets 24/7
Yes, there does seem to be a mentality, and not a very pleasant one at that, that what you can get away with is some kind of right. There are plenty of little things "everyone does" from doing 38 in a 30 zone, to nipping into McDonalds to use their facilities without making a purchase. It's horrible when people who are called on their actions complain as if they're being hard done by.
McDonalds are not being unreasonable here.0 -
I would tell the manager that I was going to buy after my child had used the facilities, then go to the til and oh my! I forgot my purse! I would then request they put the meal on the slate?0

What a fine person you seem to be.0 -
After all the advertising that has been pushed down my throat I have absolutely no issue with telling a porky to a corporate monkey... If that makes me a bad person, so be it.0

Aftr a lot of searching online there appears to be no such law at all!0 -

Suggest you try searching online harder as it isn't very difficult to find the evidence.
For example, look at page 19 at http://applications.huntsdc.gov.uk/moderngov/mgConvert2PDF.aspx?ID=12707&T=10, where it states :'the opportunity to pilot a scheme which is widely used in Austria (and possibly other European countries) whereby the public is allowed access to toilets in hotels, cafes and restaurants without having to be a paying customer.'Got it now ?;):)I have no idea whether Huntingdonshire District Council actually piloted the scheme or what the outcome was. However, I hope that other councils are actively looking at similar Austria schemes in order to save money and also better 'service';) their people.:)

Macdonalds let peadophile in to use loo's without payingMacdonalds today stands accused of being lax with child protection after a shopper spotted convicted peadophile Eric Mcperv walking into the store and going straight to the toilets. "It's a disgrace" said one concerned mother on popular mums website "how can they let someone in to use thier toilets without even buying anything. The store is very popular with children including mine but i feel uneasy about going there now and will make sure all the other mums and dads do the same until Macdonalds take notice and stop letting these vermin in to use their loo's without buying food first. I mean It costs me £10 per week to eat and use the loo's in Macdonalds - how can they let a peado in for free."
Macdonalds responded by claiming "We had to let anyone use our loo's after a campaign by some other whingers on a popular consumer website got a bee in their bonnet about not being able to use the loo's even if they were not paying to eat in our restaurant. I mean its not like we dont have the cost of keeping them clean to add to our daily bills, but no, some people think they can just use them willy-nilly. We cant win can we"
Unfortunately Ronald Macdonald himself was not able to comment due to him being ficticious."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

That doesnt actually substantiate it though does it. Its just some council claiming it to be true.
On the other hand i found this which is peoples real life experience of having to pay to use loo's in various countries in Europe - and i have found the same in some places. Yes you can use them but they will charge you for the pleasure
