If you got caught short at BK in Bluewater, then you could have looked for the signs and seen that the toilet was up the stairs/escalator/lift right next to BK! :p:D

I was a bit bemused by this -loos are hardly difficult to find at Bluewater

However if a store got stroppy about me using their facilities-I simply wouldn't use the store again. I expect stores to use common sense and be able to tell the difference between a druggie and a normal customer-it isn't rocket science.

I did some mystery shops for a certain chain of bookmakers -part of the brief was to ask to use the loo before placing the bet-all were charming-directing me to the loo )in some cases giving me a key) except one where I got snarled at "You have to place a bet first" -he then told me after I'd prised permission from him that they get "all sorts" wanting to use the loo-I pointed out I was a customer not "all sorts"

    lol.
I experienced this in Manchester last week, but I was desperate to go, bursting after drinking beer on a long minibus ride, and so just walked right through the 'manager' who tried to stop me and went anyway.
Not sure how they can really enforce such rules. Maybe lots of heavy handed security staff patrolling around?

I can see the scene. Family goes in and orders. Dad wants loo but none to be had, goes to pub across road and returns. Comes back and they go home. He later gets parking invoice from tame maccie parking scammer for leaving the site.

Can I stop by at your house and use your toilet?

I won't give you any money though and I might not even flush when I've finished.

Just read the first post and theres nothing wrong with mcdonalds refusing people to use the loo if not buying food, arent there other shops you could use eg a supermarket that has customer toilets or a debenhams with customer toilets(well they used have them)

I live in Gravesend. Normally I take the kids to McDonalds once a week, spending £13 a visit. I have a four year old and in spite of making sure he visits the toilet before leaving the house, sometimes we are walking into town and he urgently needs to 'go'. So I normally make a quick stop at McDonalds and use their toilet facilities, knowing full well I will be returning and paying pretty soon anyway.

Not any more it seems. Yesterday i was told (by the manager) that unless u buy something, u are not allowed to use the facilities. Its new policy apparently. Perhaps I will be alone in finding this a bit shocking. Altho I know my kids think its a big treat and fun to go to McDonalds.., I am not keen to have to buy a packet of chips (sorry french fries) if my son decides he needs the loo. They enjoy it, but its not exactly healthy food lol.

Obviously McDonalds has decided it can't afford the good will. I have decided I can't afford to go somewhere that refuses toilet facilities to a child.

On holiday in France you could only use the toilet in MacDonalds with a code you enter at the door. The code was only given on your receipt, meaning you had to buy something.

Makes sense to me. They have to pay for the water, electricity for the lights, the cleaner etc etc.

How about this then.......... local council have shut public toilets in the town centre near me and put a sign up actually saying the nearest toilets are in Tesco / Asda.
Most of our public toilets have now been closed but the council gives out £200 a year to local businesses if they will advertise their toilets as public.

    That explains it then :T

same as my local town and shops eg debenhams came out and said people could use they're toilets so i expect to see needles in they're toilets(old ones were closed due to addicts using them) then

Thank god I don't have a job where I have to deal with people like this.

Without being able to go to shop toilets I doubt i would be able to actually go shopping, toilets are needed, So if any of you do own stores and theres a person desperate to use your toilet, then please do, there might be a very good reason and may save someone from a lot of embarrassment and suffering

I believe you can get cards from the NHS if you suffer a bowel condition which basically say your condition and you should let them use your toilet. Mind you, I wouldn't expect many of our beloved population to pay any attention to anything like that since we're all rude and self-obsessed these days.
