Road Tax

How come nobody has mentioned the increase in Road Tax for older cars? My tax has gone up by £15 this year to £205 and I drive less than 2000 p/a.

Well, I was waiting for you to come along and start the discussion.:p

PS - I suspect this was discussed at the time of the relevant Budget when it was announced.

Yeah, I find it pretty disgusting paying over £200 for an economical 45-50mpg Diesel when people with sports cars and big engined heavy repmobiles are paying a lot less than that. Oh well.

£205 is the rate for April 2010 to March 2011.

Have they announced the rates chargeable from next month yet?

You could always get one of these:

My other half has one, and it gives between 50 to 55 to the gallon around town and 60 to 65 on long journeys. (and the "car tax" is only £20 a year!)

Surely when the whole country gets round to driving £20-30 a year VED vehicles, the govt will have to up the VED. To cover the short fall from all the £200 a year vehicles which are no longer on the roads.
