well done aliasojo, i had mine yesterday, was uncomfortable, but not too painful, tho she did cause me to bleed after it.
my last one was 2006, so not too long ago, but there was something on my records about having cells that needed treatment back in 1995, which i've never been told about, so she said she would get senior nurse to look at records, as it could be a mistake, and has never been mentioned to me before.
been told i should get results end of april, to beg of juneloves to knit and crochet for others0 -

That's even longer than here then.
Glad you went (even although it wasn't great experience). :T
Sound like it could have been a mistake, given that your later one was ok.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Well done aliasojo and sock-knitter. You both have every right to be self-congratulatory and smug.
I'm going to register with new docs, so I'll make my appointment then. I think
Nah, I need to do it as recently started HRT and have had a little bleeding in the last few weeks so probably need a good poke around.
Isn't in funny how a thread like this can feel so supportive over something like this. :T
Sock-knitter, I normally take my knitting with me everywhere, but I have a feeling there would be far too many dropped stitches if I tried to knit before the appointment.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
Can we keep this thread going? I'm 24 an won't be "invited" for a smear until the start of next year - I know it's nearly 12 m away but I'm concerned (not for the procedure - I'll buy something afterwards
) but for the results - there is a lot of female cancers on my mums side of the family.
Well done to all that have been for oneUsing my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos0 -
Well done you for doing it!
And to all the people putting it off, it might not be the most fun way to spend ten minutes but I've had one done probably half a dozen times now and it has never been anything worse than slightly uncomfortable. The thought of it is way way way worse than the actual experience. So bear that it mind and book one now.
Also don't forget you don't have to go via your GP, family planning clinics do it as well and personally I do prefer going to someone who deals exclusively with ladies parts0 -
All done! After 3 different length speculums the nurse finally found my cervix. She was so gentle I hardly felt a thing (well, you know what I mean:D)
Results will be sent to me from the screening centre anything between 2-12 weeks.
I did get told off for not going sooner to have the post coital bleeding investigatedAccept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Ladies, I can't believe you've reached page 13 and not one post addressing the REAL question...when getting a smear done, how fussy are you when it comes to tending to your *lady garden* ???:happylove0

I met women who had cervical cancer some of whome have died . Thease women were dealing with a horrible and painfull cancer. If you are worried about a smear test go to the site Jos trust, there you will read heartbreaking statements of women and their loved ones some of who are still fighting or who have lost the fight against cervical cancer.
Im not dismissing peoples fears over having the test but you have the chance to keep well from this. Do you know how many women dont even have the right to a smear. Young mums on jos trust have lost the fight as they could not get a smear due to being under 25 and by the time the cancer was found it was too late.0
