Ladies - how fussy are you when it comes to getting a smear done?

Hi Ladies. I would like you to ask is it essential for a virgin woman to have a smear test after she reaches due age?Or is just for sexually active ladies??0
-
I had reached and passed the age and was still a virgin. I did not book as the HPV virus is only contractable through intercourse. So I would say no. I also remember my booklet saying this too.
For the HPV you should have it if you plan to be sexually active in the future not just if you are when it is offered. Just like you should have the rubella at 13 even if you aren't planning on getting pregnant for a while ;-)People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I'm not sexually active - do I still need cervical screening?
The evidence shows that if a woman has never been sexually active then her risk of developing cervical cancer is very low indeed. We don't say 'no risk' just 'low risk'. A woman who has ever had sex will probably have come into contact with HPV which causes cervical cancer so she should accept her invitation for cervical screening.

Ok, hands up those said they were going to go and actually DID go?
I should be there now but my period started early this month (there's another omen :rotfl:) and I've had to reschedule.
Another two weeks of waiting nervously.
Did any of you other feardies go?Herman - MP for all!0 -
It's not exactly pleasant, but I don't mind having mine done. I think after giving birth, having anyone at the surgery poke about up there really doesn't bother me. I also have mirena coils as contraception, so that's pretty much the same. My mum had an abnormal smear and the had to freeze off pre-cancerous cells, so I would never miss one just in case.Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

I tried but I panic and hyperventilate and cry and totally tense up so it can't be done. I actually feel sick and faint just reading this thread!0

I hate them with a passion, and always used delaying tactics, as very unpleasant, and uncomfortable for me. Jade Goody dying was a wake-up call for me. Better to be a bit uncomfortable, than die of cervical cancer. :cool:0

Honestly i am not overly bothered by it. Plus i would much rather go through a few mins of being uncomfortable and know than risk having cancer and not getting treatment.
A lovely lady who used to work for the company i work for (actualy i now have her job) died from cancer just over a year ago. She didnt have her smear done and by the time they realised something was wrong it was too late.be who you are and say what you feel.

and those who matter dont mind.

I am a poorly functioning Belenophobic so have the same reaction to all needle related procedures but sometimes things just have to happen.
Speak to your gp, or your nurse and see if they can do anything, maybe a sedative or relaxation techniques.
Good luck x2 angels in heaven :A0
