I don't care because I'd rather have a simple test than cancer.

I'm with you on this, I'd much rather a little akwardness and a few minutes of discomfort than anything nasty.

I've only needed two so far, and have seen a different nurse each time. I'm not worried about which nurse does it, but I admit I do prefer a female nurse to do the smear. But if there were none available, i'd still go. My health is important to me, so i'd get over the embarassment.

On my last smear, i was very nervous as i had lots of stitches after giving birth to my son. So was anxious about it hurting, the nurse was fab and very gentle with me :)

I had one failed smear, and didn't rebook as it was horrible. A couple of years later I heard about Jade Goody and decided I had to bite the bullet and get it done, as better than the alternative.

I told the nurse I'd had a failed smear before, and she was understanding, and I had a successful one which came back clear.

It is a horrible thing, and I am not looking forward to my next one, but will get it done as my health is the most important thing. I am going to be a mum, and this makes it even more important.

Thought I'd pass on a tip from my last smear experience - I have a tilted womb and the nurse advised to put my fists under my bum to help tilt things the right way. First smear I've ever had that didn't result in lots of discomfort and bleeding. :o

I had to do that for my last smear too as the nurse couldn't see my cervix. I too found it less painful that previous ones.

As someone who spent christmas waiting to hear whether she had cervical cancer, I appreciate smear's are uncomfortable, but please do book yourself in for one if you have missed one! I did get the all clear, but still, it was worrying, and I won't be missing a smear test again! xx

I have fainted once.........apparently there are nerve endings in your cervix that can cause this to happen spontaneously!

I was also told about a 'vaginal pocket' that I have got when the Dr had a check internally as I had been getting bleeding!

Now if I can cope with those 2 indignitites and still be ok with smears then anyone can!!!!!!

I had two failed smears last year, not enough cells or something. It was a right nuisance having to have it done 3 times in a few weeks. Still preferable to the alternative though and it's a great feeling when you get the letter to say you've got the all clear and you don't have to bother about it for 3 years.

Please never miss a smear test.

I've had 15 years of problems, without any other symptoms showing and on more than one occassion the problems had escalated. Just 2 mins of grief every 3 months for me has kept me here today, healthy and happy.

I dread the letter, hate the night before thinking about it, spend ages before hand making sure I am as hygienic as possible and then feel a right idiot in the actual appointment.

But 5 minutes later its over and done with and I can go and get on with my life :)
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

Hi Ladies. I would like you to ask is it essential for a virgin woman to have a smear test after she reaches due age?Or is just for sexually active ladies??
