Local Staples has some discontinued Belkin Surgemaster Superior ( i.e. £100,00 lifetime insurance) 45,00 amp F9S520uk2M Under Monitor unit.
Basically sits under CRT monitor, with switches at front and five 13 sockets at rear, (if you still have one) . As cheap as an ordiary 2 metre switched mains extension lead, at £4.91.

Described here, http://www.porta-charge.co.uk/accessory_0214.html , it has been replaced by a lower power model.
Basically 4 protected, swiched + 1 unswitched 13amp sockets and a telephone splitter.
