Could he not buy a router only and plug his USB modem into it so he could still get some use out of his modem and save himself a big of cash as routers are cheaper than modem+routers?? That is what I am trying to set up at the moment using a Belkin Access point/Wireless extender plugged into my cable modem... another staples bargain!

You have cable, the poster has ADSL. As withabix says it's not common to get an ADSL router that has USB connections, even if you find one it's false economy.
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

  • Don't think it's been previously mentioned, iAudio 1Gb mp3 player. £9.91 down from £50 apparently.

Picked a couple up from Swindon.

Forget USB ...I mean a wireless router that has a network is it rj 45 plug which you can plug your modem into ...my modem has a usb output and a network cable output which I have put into my network card, but i have bought a wireless router only and now have connected the modem to the router using the network cable so my modem is still in use ..combined modem+router =60 pounds, this wireless router cost me 20 pounds :j

But the free modems offered by the likes of Tiscali for broadband over a BT line are USB modems, they don't have ethernet output like cable modems. Loads of people make the mistake of buying a router rather than a modem/router and end up having to return it.

Vonage Lynksys RT31P Broadband router with two phone sockets now £4.91.
Dont know if this has been hacked like the PAP2, but hey at this price it is a great 3 port extension for a wired network.

They were also clearing the Trust stand, besides the Voip handsets mentioned previously, there were webcams and a usb voip switch box for £6.91, http://www.trust.com/products/product.aspx?artnr=14485 to connect a normal phone and switch it between the computer and a landline similar to B2K as dicussed in this thread, similar to piccy http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=123900

  • Got The Last I-audio (£9.91) In My Local, Also They Had 1 Last Magellan Rm300 For £59. I Asked The Guy On The Counter About The £20 Voucher. He Said Buy The Iaudio And If You Come Back For The Sat Nav. I'll Refund You The Iaduio Then Let You Buy It Back With Your Voucher.
So The Question Is... Is The Magellan Worth Buying?

£59 for a sat nav of any kind is a bargain. I don't think it gets the best reviews, but its dame cheap.
  • Problem with magdallen is the lack of no battery! but Still a bargain! got the trust voip adaptor when it was £10 , its good but does seem to use more that normal power on the usb , when its pluged in my usb speakers refuse to work unless i unplug the trust viop adaptor. Otherwise its great!

I nipped down to Bolton Staples, but there wasn't much left. No great loss as I had to go to town anyway. They did have the router mentioned earlier in the thread, but no iAudio players.

Oh, and anyone tempted to buy the 99p Staples Spyware Defender Suit? Don't bother. It's a load of old cack. It threw up an error message halfway through the the scan and the onsite support is abysmal. A waste of cash even at 99p.
