  • Why does it have to be an online conveyancer? Do you have friends or work colleagues who could recommend someone local to you, where you can call into the office if there are any difficulties etc, as well as being able to drop documents off, produce identification etc?
  • I have just completed a sale with an online conveyancer called Harding Evans. I think I found them via theadvisory.com. They have been really good. I have had the same solicitor (Renee) throughout, who i have always been able to get in touch with by phone and/or email. she has always been very prompt and professional. am a v happy camper with their service :-) would defintely recommend them

    Hi

Need to get the legal stuff in motion quickly as I have agreed sale on my house and have agreement to purchase another. I have some online names like RMNJ, Ross Coates, onlineconveryancing.co.uk, but would like a company someone has had +++ experience with. Thanks! Basic buy and sell with mortgage redemption, both freehold properties.:D

Hi, get a quote from http://www.compareandconvey.co.uk
All the firms there offer competitively priced services and all with no completion no fee. When you instruct a firm, you can also specify a lawyer, if you know one.

I dealt with Chadwick Lawrence on a failed transaction. The solicitor was really good, always respond to my emails immediately even in weekends. I can pm you her name if you want.

I also dealt with Mark Gilbert Morse on my recent purchase. The service was ok, needed some chasing at times. I went with Mark Gilbert Morse as Chadwick Lawrence was offline at the time when I agreed my purchase.

Thanks for the leads and responses. I'll check some out although I have gone a bit further today with RMNJ and have also found some positive reviews here and there. The reason I'm looking at onlineconveyancing instead of local solicitors, as someone asked, is the big savings in cost: £700 or more. Certainly worth considering for that savings :)

    Big savings is why - £700 !
  • I used FWDLaw of Newport, Gwent. Very efficient overall and it wasn't straight forward. Total bill: £390 for selling only.

I thought about RMNJ too, until I got their contract. £2 for printing, £2 for photocopying, £2 for posting letters, etc... Extras for acting for lender, for completing stamp duty returns... Although their fee quote on the face sounds low, these extra charges can be a lot! So do your maths add up all the extras before you go for RMNJ. (You'll get quite a few posts and the solicitor will need to print and photocopy, which alone can cost you a lot)

I personally prefer a solicitor with an all-inclusive fee quote.

Having gained some courage from fellow postees, I have now engaged a firm recommended on the ReallyMoving site called RossCoates. So far so good. At least someone answers the phone straightaway and answers questions. Will let you know how I get on. They were not the cheapest online quote but still £800 - £1000 cheaper than my local solicitors quotes from my area.
Estate agents not happy either from the selling or purchasing end.

Should have also mentioned someone else who replied said they'd used Ross Coates twice. Thanks for that :)

My conveyancing with Ross Coates (found online) is going very well - think we will exchange contracts in about a week - 10 days time. They are in Ipswich, I'm in Canterbury and it's been fine - no problems. I've been very pleased with their service so far.
