Do I need to upgrade my computer.

What info do I look at to decide whether the spec on my computer is any good?

I'm having dvd/cd problems and am considering changing it.

Thx

  • what problems?
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • Sometomes I can burn a cd (maybe have to try it 20 times to get it to work).

I'm not sure if this is my fault, but I cannot 'see' anything on a dvd I've recorded. I have finalised i, but I still cannot read anything.

    Any help appreciated.

What is the spec of your pc?

    CPU Speed
    Amount of Ram
    Graphics Card
    Operating System

  • I have managed to find this info.

    Windows XP SP2
    Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80 GHz
    2.79GHz 1.00GB or Ram.

Is it still a reasonable setup?

  • The comp is in constant use with four of us fighting over it. So speed, reliability, etc. is important.

Start > Control Panel > System (classic mode) > Hardware (Tab at top) > Device Manager (Button) > Display Adapters...

Your spec is pretty good.. wonder if the drive is faulty... A DVD/CD re-writer will cost about £20, if it is..

    NVIDIA GeForce FX520

Is it easy to replace the drives or do I have to take it to a repair shop?
