For one of my hampers i bought a lrge chocolate coloured basket/waste bin put in a chocolate throw a bottle of Champers but wine would do, a couple of nice glassses and a box of chocs. The throw was £5 from Matalan but if you shop around im sure you could get one cheaper.Looks really expensive.I did post some pics previously if you want to have a look but i must say it looks much nicer in the flesh so to speak will post again once its wrapped. This may be an idea for the parents of your sons girlfriend

Please could anyone give me any tips on making bows similar to these lovely ones? (I assume that these are the 'pull-up' type?) Today I found a whole big reel of the ribbon stuff in a charity shop for just a few pence and I'm sure there must be a way of making a reasonable bow out of it but my first few attempts have been pathetic. It's just plain wide ribbon, about 2" wide. At this rate I will have used all the blooming stuff up before I get a decent bow to use!!!!!

Thanks for all your inspiration...I never would have dreamed of doing anything like this before :j

I got them from a mixture of places such as wilkinsons, local newagents, local cheap food/sweet shop, local market hall etc.

I worked out how many I was making so I could then buy multipacks where possible which can work out cheaper. I made 4 so spent approx. £24 altogether. Things like the chocolate coins I got 4 packs at 99p BOGOF and opened the netting so each basket would have a mixture of white and milk chocolate coins.

    morning all :)
Am of into town next Thursday to start collecting the items but am on a very low budget :(

Here are the people I wish to buy for..
my sons, girlfriends mother ~ I dont really know what she is in to as we only rarely say hi to each other lol I can only think of 1 of those small bottles of red wine so far.

my sons girlfriends dad ~ again totally stuck (unless I can do a joint basket for them both as I know him even less)

    my sons girlfriends brother
~ he is 11 and I have a few ideas with the chocolates and mug etc, I think he should be pretty easy to buy for.

then my sons girlfriend ~ last year I bought her expensive make-up, but now she never wears any so I am totally lost for her. She is 16 nearly 17 and very fashion conscious.

I feel like a failure already hardly knowing what they are into, but they tend to keep themselves to themselves alot of the time, I can tell this wont be easy, so any advice hugely appreciated :)
    Thank you
Sort of out of interest I guess (and don't mean to sound harsh), but do you HAVE to buy for these people??? Do they get you something, so you reciprocate??:confused::confused: It seems really uneccessary when you're on such a tight budget icon9.gif

I personally wouldn't bother tbh, but if you HAVE to, what about bundling them all together and making a family type of hamper? So you could include general items for them all in it, or activity things like personalised mug kit etc.

As for the gf, well I wouldn't spend so much on her this year..............a pamper hamper like your you're planning for your friend would suffice, with lots of girly bits in it, you can get tons of cheap stuff from Claire's, chuck in some bath stuff etc, does she still like sweets?

    Good luck ;)
