re : hampers - i think it's best not to spend too much on the actual hamper / box etc unless you know the receiver will re-use it. some people like storage boxes to match and may not reuse the one you have chosen. i think the best bet is to try and obtain one cheaply from poundland, car boots, in store, etc. however, have heard of relatives giving back the hamper "container" and asking for the same again next year.

 all you hamper crazy people - chill

the point of this thread is to save you money not give you reasons to make extra hampers for family / everyone. i know you love making hampers but please don't go mad or get into debt to do them.

have more or less finished my mum's hamper, just need to add some flavoured vodka, fluffy socks and bubble bath (from the 5 for £5 offer on avon and done through quidco.)
have added it all up and the cost to me so far is £25 (i usually spend at least £50 on her plus other small bits and bobs) and if I had bought everything there full price is would have been over £80 a woo hoo to me

    Hi ladies,

Just a quickie with regards to using your 'pinkies' (technical name for the pink £5 off vouchers from boots)

    You can get this item...

    boots.jpg

Its £6 but on 3 for 2 and then buy another 2 gifts for £5.

    This would then do this...

    Mirror = £6
    Other 3 for 2 offer £5
Other 3 for 2 offer £5 (this would be free item on 3 for 2)
Total = £11 (following so far?)

    Then you use your 'pinkie'

minus £5 amd leaves you £6 to pay!

Hope this helps you get the most from your vouchers!

    Sugar xxx

I got that item :D however not on a 3for2 as I wanted to use both my vouchers so just paid for them seperately.

    Hi Rustyflange

I just have to quickly say that you are all so amazing :D

How about lining with tinsel and weaving it around the goodies? You could also trim off bits of tinsel and scatter that over everything to make more mess when they open it ;) (or the lamenta (sp?) stuff if you have any of that going spare).

I love what you are all doing and wish that I could have come across this sooner.

Keep up the good work everyone and thanks for the inspiration.

    Sunshine x
Another fab idea thankyou ... I think I am going to wrap them with tissue paper and if I can find some cheap tinsel then will also add that. I plan to wrap my box today then when I go into town there is a shop selling thick christmas ribbon for 25p a metre so will grab some of that!
The total price of that hamper up there is only £7.50 :o as I split the price with my other one when infact the items in this actual basket were all free :o
Plan to wrap them today and wrap my box today but that will be as far as I can go as my son is off school ill :(

Rusty I would be chuffed to get that as it is but if you want to faf it up a bit, and as you cant really do a hamper if you are posting it (due to the fact all the lovely arranged bits will be shaken about)- I would wrap each one individually in tissue paper and I would line the box (and the lid) with tissue paper, also and throw a bit of shread in there.
It will be amazing and that is just the sort of thing I would love to open on christmas morning. - I just love lush stuff!:j

Hmmm the posty will not be able to shake them about cause they are all wedged in lol I am going to wrap individually and use christmas ribbon as I quoted above lol :) Thankyou for the idea :)

None of my hampers have been mega expensive, well apart from OH's fathers day which cost me £50 but everything in there retailed over £100 ... I think I can say for pretty much everyone that we all grab items when they are cheap and just make our baskets look expensive ;)

Savingholmes - I love your pamper hampers they are fab! The baskets are so lovely where are they from?

Does anyone have any other ideas of thngs i could include please?
