Hi Princess thankyou very much... haven't had the chance to try a towel cake as yet but I will do one eventually
In your BF's hamper you could add a voucher for his favourite shop ... I know not very money saving but good idea.

Can anyone help me think of ideas and point me in the direction of any bargains please?
I'd like to put together a wedding planning hamper for my best friend for Christmas as she's getting married in 18 months.
So far I have the M&S wedding planner book and also thought maybe a diary and a nice pen but I'm stuck after that!
Loving all your efforts by the way, some fab ideas in here!
A stress ball and an enormous bar of chocolate! Confetti sell bride to be pens for 99p which might be fun. How about a little piggy bank?!
You could also buy a cd with a selection of 'wedding music' to help her choose what they might like for the service. There are a number on ebay eg
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/A-BRIDES-GUIDE-TO-WEDDING-MUSIC-2-CD-SET_W0QQitemZ200261293713QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200261293713&_trkparms=72%3A1297%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
and

or you could buy them from somewhere like confetti.
I think it sounds like a lovely idea for a hamper.0 -

Nor quite planning related but what about some
party feet,
plasters,
tissues (for when it all gets too much)
waterproof mascara, - boot are doing their no7 vouchers at the mo.
bubble bath,
posh shampoo
and of course a pointer towards the weddings board to help her save some cash.
You might like to post this on the weddings board so brides who are in throws could make some suggestions.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Hi again peeps
shaz_mum_of_two - Love the baking bowl and contents, for your nephew - it looks dead cuteand it's something I'd never have thought of. I might 'borrow' the idea for my great-nephew - he's into everything at the moment
and it's an excellent price. Like savingholmes mentioned, I love the colour of the bowl too. (Btw, will you be wrapping it?) Ditto for bravobeastie's gardening container - it's impressively unusual
Thanks for the reply about the candles too bravo - I walked by them today and forgot to pick some up!
lol.
And a big round of applause for Rusty and the NUFC hamper :T It makes me wish my dd was still with her ex who was from Newcastle and NU mad lol. (And I had no idea what a terramundi was until I started reading this thread again lol) Lovely gesture to take over your friend's children too. PND is an awful thing to go throughso I'm sure she really appreciated the break x
miss*whisper - Boots do the Natural Collection pearls if that helps? They're not cherry shaped but are cherry coloured iirc.
paddingtontoo - your idea about the socks in mugs caught my eye too. Put a pair of black and white ones in a mug and that's another addition to Rusty's NUFC hamperif it's not already there
Phew, nearly caught up lol.
shaz_mum_of_two - I'm kicking myself about that box. It's actually the lid of a box though, but B&M were selling the thin cardboard boxes with a picture of bootees on the lid (not sure if anyone else remembers them?) and they were only 50p each. I bought 4 on Saturday because they were already made up, instead of flat-packed, and I couldn't carry anymore. But when I went back today, they'd all gone. I only opted to use the lid that way because it was the only box (or lid lol) that was the right sizeBut anyway, they had some smaller flock effect ones in that were more robust (the others were about as thick as a cake box) and they had them in a lovely Christmassy red, and lilacy pink colour, so I bought those, although they are slightly smaller. If you haven't seen them, I'll ask OH to take a pic later, but at 75p ish, they seem excellent value. The tins with the animals on the lid were in stock too, so I grabbed a couple of those as well. (Can't remember who mentioned them so apologies, but thanks
)
Thanks rainmacIf I'd have bought the items in the box, it would have cost me approximately £15.25, but with the weird (but wonderful lol) £5 till splits from the last Boots offer, it came to £1.25 ...! (after spending £5 to get the splits initially), so I'm quite chuffed. The shred can stay seeing as you like it
(another Poundland purchase that people frowned on lol, but those bags of shred seem to last forever!
) but I might try it with the cheap iridescent shred next time. (The cross-stitching that you so kindly helped me with has been put on the back-burner for now though
)
Apologies for the mammoth post everyone, but I've forgotten how to multi-quoteThanks for the thanks everyone, and as always, all the hints and links x

raggy doll - windmills are really easy to make you could make a bouqet of them in a bucket alternatively seaside shops sell those clear balls with fish that spin inside IYKWIM also sand wands tubes with little beads are tactile too
Natbag one of the nicest things i got given when getting married was a cd of wedding music i chose a song i liked and my Hubby 2 be said it was his favourite piece ever and had played it when younger (called the trumpet voluntary) be aware if you get music for a civil wedding some don't allow religious songs................daft i know
you could also get some leaflets from wedding venues and organise the wedding list at a shop they like

Hi everyone,
I am now at the point to wrap my baskets in cellophane and had a feeble attempt today, only to fail big time.
Here is the almost finished basket and its shape so you can get an idea....
http://i147.photobucket.com
did I read somewhere on this thread about how to wrap with cello? I cut a large piece and just couldn't seem to get it to look nice. I really wanted it to be pulled up into the centre of the basket and tied with a bow. As it is I think I might have to just fold it underneath as if it was shrink wrapped.
If anyone can direct me I would VERY much appreciate it.
Thanks and I'm very sorry if this has been asked lots of times before. The good you do comes back to you.DFW Long haul supporters No: 1340
