Been twiddling about trying to make something from not a lot :D and came up with this. I'm not sure about the pink shred though so will play about with it.

Sorry about the picture - I think the lighting's gone to pot lol, and the nail varnish isn't showing very well.

Edited to add the 'laid down' version' to see if it looks any better :)

Wow, that looks so expensive :T I like the shred too :D

I do need a bit of inspiration for one of them though. My little brother is almost 5 and autistic. He loves things that spin, or that he can twirl in his fingers. I was in matalan last night and they had some lovely stuff in their Christmas section and i think it was all 3 for 2. I bought some Christmas confetti 6 pks for £1. There are 3 different designs in the pack and you get 2 pks of each. You get holly, stars and snowflakes. Could be good for card or tag making or sprinkling into baskets. The holly might be good gor flannel yyle logs also with a few beads stitched onto it.

He might enjoy a colourful kaleidoscope and a nice spinning top - u can get ones that light up when they spin I think!

What about some things to hang outside, like little windmill spinners or the ones that look like spirals that turn in the wind?

What about one of these, he can spin round himself...

I haven't looked around so could maybe get them cheaper elsewhere.

A kaleidoscope is a great idea, also old fashioned spinning top and things that move in the wind. We've got a couple of those windmill flower thingies in plant pots in our garden. Sorry, don't know what they are called...? Got them from Sainburys in the summer.

Got a couple more hamper bits this morning in primark, a zebra print hot water bottle £3 for SIL, christmas tea towels to line neighbours 'hot choc and cookies' hamper. Also got some lovely (quite big) gift bags with a 'blackboard' type square on the front to write recipients name on and a babys 1st christmas one - £1.50 each and going to use them for Christmas eve 'hampers' for my 3.

This might be too expensive or innapropriate for your hamper but I can recommend it for pleasure http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/slides-&-swings/tp-twizzler.asp got it especially for my son when he had a very bad arm break when little & he needed to strengthen it. All the children loved it - as they got older, they would hang on with their legs and spin. You can spin but also swing. For us, it was such a good buy :)

There's a step-by-step guide to making a wind spinner from a plastic lemonade bottle http://www.freecraftunlimited.com/pop-bottle-wind-spinner.html

and a video here to make a spinner from a paper plate http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-make-summer-breeze-spinners-with-crayola-249694/

This one shows how to make a spinning bottle top from an old CD and a template http://www.papersnowflakes.com/tops.htm

and there are links her to show how to make a spinning top from paper/card http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080304170006AAVyntZ
