  • I finally managed to get some piccys of some of my hampers. I used the lovely hat boxes from Argos (thanks mumofone). I'm not to happy with the way i've wrapped them though so I think i'll have to do it again.

This one is mostly freebies and Boots clearance stuff, although there is a Protect & Perfect serum thingy in there so the total must be around £20!

And these are a couple of the wrapped ones!

My cellophane is the 80cm width, so I do not know how to get the gather and folds....Please help:confused:

  • I think CaitlinsNanna describes how to wrap with cellophane much better than I can - plus she was the one that taught me, lol.
    Hi Pink

    Thanks.

Bear with me & I'll do my best to try to explain how I did it.

I got this cellophane from my local florist. I would say it's about 2 1/2' wide. I sat the basket on top of the cellophane widthwise & pulled out enough to come about 18" above the highest item in the hamper.

Pulled it up the other side & cut it to match the height of the cellophane the first side.

I held both cut enges together and gathered/pleated it just abovr the highest item.

Then I twisted it & put some tape arond the twist to hold it together whilst I got the bow ready to tie on.

The bow is one of those from the florist. It's a long flat ribbon that has a pull inside that turns it into a bow complete with ties. I wrapped the ties over the tape & wound them around a couple fo time before tying in a knot.

I then curled the ties with scissors and cut them to length.

The sides of the cellophane will still be sticking out, I solved this by folding them as you would at the end of wrapping up a box & secured it with tape.

The cellophane above the bow at this stage will be quite squashed together. So I fanned it out whils pulling it up to get any 'bag' out of the cellophane below the bow.

    Hey Presto a wrapped hamper!!!

Hope you can follow this. It would be so easy to show you. It only takes 10 mins.
    What the Deuce?
  • I am probably being really thick, but will this not leave a gaping hole at either side??

    i wrapped mine slightly different
1st I put the basket on the cellophane and made sure both sides were even then cut. Then instead of gathering the whole thing together i pinched the middle of one side about 4" from the top then concertinared (sp) like fan but leaving the top open so only about the width of your finger is folded then tied with curling ribbon I then did the other side of the cellophane so I had the 2 sides tied seperatly I then joined these 2 pieces together with more curling ribbon I folded the bottom up and secured with tape then where the 2 pieces met along the side (where the gap is) I put small pieces of tape,
not sure I have explained well
as you can see it looks pretty tidy
