You have a doppelganger there :)

Instead of using a coal bucket for the hamper base, how about getting one of these as the base inside a big cellophane bag?

    was that deliberate?!

I don't know if it is your dad's type of thing, but Polar Express is a brilliant dvd; if you have kids they could all watch it together at Christmas.
Or how about searching for some old postcards with steam trains on; you might pick them up for a few pence in a second hand book shop.

Quackers - I did win it :D And can't believe how many fab ideas you've all given me. I bought a book in the charity shop just before for £1.49 about walk s in GB around famous old steam railways...fabby! Not sure if he'll like that so much, but got it anyway as my mum also loves steam trains (they have been apart since I was born and never knew about their shared love until Sophia's bday party last year!). So I can always give it to her. I've bid on some postcards on Ebay :)

That railway hat looks amazing, but I'm meant to be being money watching a little!! :D

I'm so inspired by all the photos & ideas people have had. I've got my baskets ready (the banana basket argos deal) & now need to get making. I want to do a couple of smaller for hubbys sisters but my sister & best friend will both be getting one aswell as another very close friend.
Now I want to make a sweetie type hamper for a friend but I'm not sure what to put it in. I dont really just want a basket so any ideas? I like the idea of the sweeties in a embroidery type box (as in another thread) but i don't think this is the right idea for my friend, she would want more sweets than that ;) lol

don't know if its any use to you but home bargains have some nice looking tea in at the moment, small boxes of about 20 bags for about 20-30p i think! various flavours... its a known brand but i can't for the life of me think of the name, but they're at the front in the sorta 'best deals' section they have.
