  • hi all, i have now started my hamper shopping and thought i would share some bargains with you (all found in wisbech area):

poundland have wicker baskets that could be used for hampers, they are shaped like laundry baskets but are smaller, they also have lots of character stuff, spiderman, thomas the tank engine, dora, HSM, pepper pig, underground ernie etc. i got colouring books, sticker sets and magnets.
they also have lots of bits for baby hampers, smellies etc.

woolies have got lots of stationary and craft bits reduced.

asda also have some HSM bits reduced like pencil cases and stationary sets plus new HSM 3 jewellery and clothes.

dunelms have a lot of various boxes and baskets starting from £1.99

i am very excited and can't wait to put them all together! i am going to make my daughter (aged 3) a xmas eve box with PJs, hot choc, reindeer food etc.

the hampers that i am making are:

a black, white and silver themed hamper for my best friend, so far i have a hat and gloves and a mug, am going to get some hot choc sachets to go in the mug, not sure what else?

for my family (mum, stepdad and 13 year old brother) and husbands family (mum, dad, 15 year odl sister and 7 year old brother) i am wanting to make family day out hampers - but have been looking at tickets to theme parks and zoos and they are well over budget! anyone got any other ideas?

i also need to think of something for 4 nans that have everything!

rainmac - I'm no good at doing links but I asked the same thing last week and printed it out (otherwise I'd have forgotten again ........lol)
It's on Finished Baskets thread, page 203.........think it was Rusty........not sure.

I'm collecting together some stuff for baby grandson (well 18months old) so adapting it to suit him:

Special bath stuff (I'll get what he normally has and stick a santa piccy on it
Christmas toy for the bath (if I can find one.........??)
Bath mit and little towel - I'll see if I can find a santa patch to sew on
Paper christmas plate with mince pie & hot choc.mix for santa and porridge oats with a bit of glitter to put out for rudolph
    Some christmas pj's
Door hanger saying 'santa please stop here' on it (copying yours.......lol)

I'm going to put it all in a shoe box and call it 'santa's box' so it can be re-filled every year.

    That's my version anyway:j

Do you have a home bargins near you.

They had christmas books in mine, the hard one, with thick pages for young chidlren ranging from 15p - 29p - i've got one for my neice as an advent present.

They also had books with CD's or tapes (Christmas one i.e. jingle bells) ranging from 99p - £1.99 i think

    Hope this helps.

Also, if you were looking for an xmas book, and not bothered aboout the price, my personal fave is The Jolly Christmas Postman - lovely book with lots of envelopes to open with lovely surprises in

Here is a link so you know what i am on about

I know this has already been discussed somewhere but I can't find my way about this thread as it is HUGE!

I am going to put together a box of bits for my boys on Xmas Eve and wanted any other suggestions for other things to put in. So far I've got/thought of/ nicked idea from someone else:
New pair pyjamas each. Bought some cute ones for my youngest but haven't seen any I like for my 4yo. Anyone seen Star Wars pyjamas???
Snowman soup in mugs - got mugs and candy canes, need to gather the rest
Xmas DVDs - bought Dora's Xmas (DS2 loves Dora!), The Night Before Xmas cartoon
Torches - just a silly thing for them to play with Xmas Eve night
Door plaques (so Santa will now who's room is whos)
Xmas story book - haven't got this yet, we have lots but any suggestions for a good one?
Reindeer food - oats and glitter in a bag with a nice label
Carrot - for those reindeer not partial to oats and glitter!
Biscuit ingredients - so we can bake some on Xmas Eve to leave out for Santa. I was thinking of putting dry ingredients in a bag with a Xmas themed cutter for DS1 to make?

    Anything else?

Sorry just quickly didn't want to run and ignore then forget,.

I am doing this... Have only seen star wars PJ's in Asda and I think I saw them in woolworths but they were the clone wars which is the new film out at the cinema so not sure if any good, ebay do lego star wars ones (yes I know all the right places cause my Thomas is mad on them)
As for books there is a lovely christmas book by Rod campbell (he wrote dear zoo) the book is called dear santa, we already have this so I plan to stick this in a basket so they don't get too many new things before christmas (yes I know I am cheating)
    book cover looks like this
    Dear%20Santa.jpg

I am sticking in a couple of cups which you will already have from your santa soup. and I am also doing a bath toy (rubber duck or crayons or something similar) I also plan to put in a bath bomb (lush ickle bath bomb - my son loves these) and if I can find my list later on I will tell you the rest lol ... I have the reindeer food etc and a nice pack of biscuits for a snack before bed. will try and find my list.
