  • Thank you Rusty I was thinking of the cupcakes because I've made up a few of these before. I could make up a his and hers. Good idea about the miniatures i'll have a look later. Nearest Morrisons is about 20 miles away but may be worth popping in if i have no luck in Asda. Got a busy day today i've got to help Dad sort a few things out (him and Mum recently got divorced after 33 years long story and bit of a nightmare) and muggins here has to help him with his finances!!!!! So i'm not going to be able to get to town and I'm busting a gut to go to Home Bargains but I doubt if i'll get there before closing.:D

Hi Shelley, you will probably find most of it in Asda to be honest . you could buy 2 nice glasses from asda? again to bulk it out ... maybe do something fancy with them or stick chockys in them? some nice hankerchiefs?

Sounds like you are having a day of it. I had to do all of that 8 years ago. My mum walked out and left my dad after a similar amount of years in marriage. Being 18 and having to go through all of that just about destroyed me :( so know how you feel! hope you get things sorted though.

  • Hi guys, after reading your posts I am going to do hampers for everyone this year!! I have been lucky enough to find two hamper baskets in charity shops, and have bought a storage box from Wilkos.

The thing I'd like some help with is this - I want to do a hamper for my OH but I want to use something that will be useful after. He is a DIY'er, keeps a marine tank, cycles and gardening. Any ideas?

Also, does anyone know where I can find some cheap cocktail glasses?

By the way, my OH thinks I'm completely off my chump coz I'm getting so excited and enjoying doing this so much!!! I am doing spiced plums in brandy and strawberry vodka next week.
Hi Roosterbeam ... you could buy a multitool type thing? some small screwdrivers (the ones for the really small screws) some funky air stones for his marine tank?

Really appreciate the advice Rusty I will have a look for 2 nice glasses to go with the champers!! Families eh? who needs them. The divorce came through last year but Dad has been totally irresponsible since and lost all control of his finances!! Met a woman he fell totally in love with and lost his head over - they split up but hes still chasing her like a love sick puppy and won't see reason. She is a trollop!! to put it politely, spent all he had left on her and now has turned to me for help.
I can't believe the same happened to you its a nightmare isn't it?? I was a bit older at 32 but the last 2 years have been hell!!!! I suffered awful depression after!! I think because I was an adult they thought they could offload on me so I had it all on my shoulders ( even things I really should not known about).
Really glad i started my crafty hobbies because at least that way you can switch off. This forum is a godsend

Can I just ask what the pens that are like chalk pens are called? (think it may have been saving holmes?) MIL can't find any chalk and Blyth and cramlington are rubbish and nowhere sells it! Figure I can probably buy a nice pretty chalk pen off ebay :)

    Thanks in advance.

rusty are you still looking for chalk? I have some if you would like it.

funnyfrecle I bought a cheese grater in Tesco today for my brother's italian hamper so thanks for the info.

rusty are you still looking for a black box? In Tesco they had a black plastic crate for £1.20. Not the most attractive of boxes...but black:D
