Rusty, I'd like to make a suggestion for your hamper.
They are called magic pillowcases or Christmas Eve pillowcases.
It is what it says, a homemade pillowcase (loads of patterns on the web) made of Christmassy cotton fabric (cheap on ebay) and then this poem on a tag attatched.

    Christmas starts a magical time,
With all sorts of colours, ribbons & rhyme....
Sugar plum fairies will dance in your head....
If you put this special pillowcase on your bed.
The reason it's special, as you will soon see
Is that it's been dusted with Christmas Fancy!
Visions of candy canes, Santa and treasures
Will fill each dream with sweetness and pleasures.
When the time comes for it to be washed
Do it quickly so no magic is lost!

Nice Christmas Eve tradition I thought and just maybe a way to get little ones asleep;)

Ahhhhh thats lovely! Thankyou. I will have a nosey for a pattern. Although I might just do a plain cotton cover and maybe make some christmassy pictures out of felt to sew on?
Thankyou :) *writes this one on to do list!)

Have just bought a load more chinese food stuff, and also while I was in the Chinese supermarket I picked up a load of sushi stuff too. Going to make a separate hamper with that using a bamboo steamer:

Looking forward to putting that one together :)

Hehe, I was only just thinking today that I would make my brother (and his girlfriend if she's there for Christmas, two birds, one stone!) a sushi hamper for Christmas as he loves all things Japanese. I went for sushi (well veggie sushi for me) the other night at my friends and it was really fun making it. They had all the stuff needed for sushi really cheap in the Chinese supermarket near work, so much cheaper than the touristy Japanese shop in town (and also cheaper than Tesco's). I want to put a recipe book in and maybe some bowls so I'll have to look for a suitable container.

Great minds, and all that ;)

Anyone have any tips what to pack the hampers with? Was thinking shredded paper, but does anyone else use this?

Any tips where to get it from :)

    Please and Thankyou :)

Could you put wrapping paper etc through a shredder, not tried it but it may work. I think places like the card factory sell it.

That is such a lovely idea, really makes me want to be a kiddy again. Will look out for the fabric and give Nanna a job.

    Thanks again

They are seriously having a laugh, :rotfl: yes those are the ones.

When I get chance and littlies are asleep I'll weigh the ones I've got and work out what the postage would be. If you are unable to get them I could see if they have them when next in and post them to you, please please don't pay those ebay prices.

2nd class postage would be 66p, can send it large letter. Let me know if I can be any help.

Been to our local retail park this evening and got a couple more bargains thanks to the grabbit forum.

Got a 17 Sheer lipstick for free courtesy of the voucher on the forum when purchasing another item by 17. I didn't want anything and wasn't prepared to spend much otherwise it rather outweighs the save, but found an eyeshadow in a colour I would use for 50p, another thing to go in BFs hamper, just hope I can get the mini Dior mascara. You can use the voucher on the 3 for 2 offer they are running at the mo a well.

Our Asda is an Asda Living so not sure if it makes a difference but by the till they had loads of children's holographic reuseable stickers reduced to 25p. They had allsorts including: HSM, Hannah Montanna, Ben 10, Power Rangers, Dora, Disney Princess, Mickey Mouse, Disney Fairies, WTP ........

I've bought some for birthday goody bags and others for Christmas.

I have put the sticker details on the grabbit forum as well.
  • TiredMom - thanks a lot for your help. I will see if my mother-in-law can find any.

RustyFlange - I guess these must be the aprons. Obviously much, much more expensive on e-bay!
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KIDS-CHILDS-PINK-CUPCAKE-APRON-MUMMYS-LITTLE-HELPER_W0QQitemZ270275085750QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270275085750&_trkparms=72%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I bought one of those aprons from TJ Hughes a while ago so if anyones looking for them, it might be a good place to look.
It was probabaly about year ago though so not promising they'll have them in!
