Iv'e just got back from poundland, where i bought some lovely wicker baskets. They are shapped like wicker wash baskets, but on slightly smaller scale, and cost.........you guessed it £1.00 each lol0

Ok, I've had a bit of a sort out of some of what I've gathered together for my baskets this year and have finished these so thought I'd show some pics...
Chocolate basket for my brother & girlfriend -
Another chocolate basket -
Chinese basket -
I've bought nearly everything when it's been on offer or in a sale so have saved money all over the place. I've added a New York guide to my brothers as the lucky so and so is off there in January for his birthday.
Need to add a flannel yule log to the chinese one but I've run out of ribbon.
Going to wrap them in gold hessian cello and pop them away, my first completely finished Xmas pressies:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

As for the straws being too long, have you thought about cutting them to size and then re-wrapping them in cling film on say Christmas Eve before wrapping up the completed item. This would probably work for you and you'd get the size you need.
Next your daughter, how old will she be at Christmas? My oldest son was able to suck from a straw much to my surprise at 6 months old without any problems at all. I had been in the town with him and had got a carton of juice for myself, but he wanted to try it. I didn't think he would be able to but he emptied the carton and cried for more.
When you think about it, when you are feeding your children when they are young, whether they are breast feeding or bottle they need the sucking reflex to get the contents out so it's already there and they just need to adapt a little to the straw which they do very quickly in most cases.
Oh on the subject of sachets of milkshake powder, I haven't seen any that I can think of but Nesquik do a box of powder to make your own milkshakes, perhaps you could make up little bags and put a spoon in it so your little ones can spoon it in themselves, plus it gives them a spoon to stir it with when making it up. What do you think ?
Hope this helps.
Hi, thanks for your post. The magis straws can't be cut as they have milkshake inside them. so would be no good to cut. Fantastic idea though.
I try her every few days with a straw in the hope if I make enough daft noises and silly faces she may copy and learn to suck. She is 16 months old now, she can't suck but she can blow through a straw.
However your idea for putting some in a little bag is fantastic! Definately one I will be using. then I can just put a couple of hot chocy sachets at the back. Thankyou very much.
Anyone know how soon before christmas I can make up the milkshake bags?Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
I think someone said a few pages back that G&B chocolate was £1 a bar in Morrisons so you could get a few different bars, do up with a ribbon, add the book you've bought and hey presto a really nice pressie
That was me, and I think that would look lovely and be very tasty! Also, I was just in Morrisons for some more jam sugar to make Blackberry and Apple Jam to go in food hampers for Christmas and noticed that the £1 offer is on until the 21st September. I assume it's nationwide. All their 100g bars are in the offer (milk, dark, ginger, maya gold, etc) although they didn't have any left of the ones I wanted (I'll keep checking though!) but be careful as they have some tasty looking ones with festive wrappers next to them in our store (York) but they're not on the offer as are slightly larger.0 -
i was just wondering where the best place is to get cellophane to wrap the hampers with. Iv'e been trying to think of an alternative, but can't think of anything.
Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you:p0 -
My first post since last christmas and im glad to be back.
I wasn't going to do hampers this year but to my suprise they have been requested which makes me feel great.
So going to do little ones along side normal pressies so if anyone has any ideas and knows where I can get some of the gorgeous hat boxes people have been using for the hampers offline that would be great.
Chuchies..x0
