Many thanks in advance.

I always find that searching the date on Wikipedia gives you some useful facts. We do this quite a lot if we're bored at work and want to 'entertain' the rest of the office with trivia.
You've also reminded me that I need to get on with making a book for my niece. She's getting christened at the end of September and for her sisters Christening I made a book of the year she was born (so as it's only September this time and was December for her sister I'll have to add a few months worth of pages to it a little later). But it will contain what happenned in the news, her family, what films, tv etc were popular and then I'll make a mix CD of songs that were popular (and a few that her crazy aunt liked at the time)0 -
hello again, I posted on here a while ago about making my oh a hamper for christmas..I gave up on that, hes just too hard to buy for. BUT I did start getting things for hampers for my neice (4) and nephew (2). I was in ikea yesterday (oh ikea, how i love you so!!) and bought a little toy guinea pig..I'm pretty sure its a guinea pig anyway, and a reindeer glove puppet.
I'm probably going to order some bits off yellowmoon for them aswell, was meant to be going into town to see the brand new shopping centre (120 new shops!!!) but my darling oh is too hungover to go and I dont really want to go on my own.
I was also thinking about doing a basket for my sister, she'll me 7 months pregnant around then so any suggestions? I'm planning on doing a nappy cake for when baby is born so I dont really want any baby stuff. I always get her makeup etc. I was thinking some kind of pamper hamper, but I dont know, it seems a bit boring. I would LOVE to do some kind of voucher booklet for her..eg babysitting for a night etc but stupidly I live 100's of miles away (I'm trying to move closer, but its not going to quickly)
Ok long post..sorry bout that. Everyones baskets look so nice!! I'm not too good at presentation so god knows what mine will end up looking like lol.May Grocery Challenge -£216/4000 -
Savingholmes - your retro sweet tin is great. Love the tin and the price, your finished hamper is lovely too. Toddler hamper is brilliant and stuff will probably be used far more than a single gift of the same value :T :T

Weird this is what I have done for my nappy cake that I am going to attempt to assemble tonight or tomorrow night! I know it'll be appreciated :j0 -
RustyFlange wrote: »I have spent ages looking for a proper ceramic mug for my son in the disney cars range but could only find one in the USA, however we nipped into disney store today and low and behold they had some in there! Its a new range which suits me just fine. Picked up a cars cup (£5) and then a aristocats one (plastic £3) for the kids for a hot chocky/ milkshake gift for in their stockings. However I planned to use the magic straws in them but the straws will be too long and also I don't think my baby girl will have learnt how to suck out of a straw by then (she can blow through one!) So I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere where they sell milkshake in sachets?
Here are the cups for them to go in.
Rusty, I noticed your comment about the magic straws being too long and the comment on your daughter not being able to use the straws.
As for the straws being too long, have you thought about cutting them to size and then re-wrapping them in cling film on say Christmas Eve before wrapping up the completed item. This would probably work for you and you'd get the size you need.
Next your daughter, how old will she be at Christmas? My oldest son was able to suck from a straw much to my surprise at 6 months old without any problems at all. I had been in the town with him and had got a carton of juice for myself, but he wanted to try it. I didn't think he would be able to but he emptied the carton and cried for more.
When you think about it, when you are feeding your children when they are young, whether they are breast feeding or bottle they need the sucking reflex to get the contents out so it's already there and they just need to adapt a little to the straw which they do very quickly in most cases.
Oh on the subject of sachets of milkshake powder, I haven't seen any that I can think of but Nesquik do a box of powder to make your own milkshakes, perhaps you could make up little bags and put a spoon in it so your little ones can spoon it in themselves, plus it gives them a spoon to stir it with when making it up. What do you think ?
Hope this helps.0 -
Love those mugs Rusty, I want nice mugs for my two to do snowman soup for their stockings. I haven't found anything nice yet and wouldn't have thought of The Disney Store so thanks for the tip
If you have a Poundland near you, they often do gorgeous bone china mugs with Snowmen on them at Christmas time along with a few other Christmasy themes, so it might be worthwhile holding off for a month or two until their Christmas range comes in which will probably be about 3 nano seconds after Halloween is done and dusted.0 -

My dad is 65 next year and I wanted to do something special for him so will be interested what people come back with
Could do a journal jar to get your dad thinking back and writing down some of his memories.
Could do quotes/phrases in a jar/in a book about being 60.
Jar of your dad's favourite sweets.
How about a survival kit (again can put in a jar - I love jar pressies!). Pop in funny things like a few marbles to help when loosing your own etc.
Scrapbook of your dad with photos, comments etc.
I've found these useful when looking for what happened on certain days...
