I am making hampers for the 1st time this year, i did one a couple of weeks back for my dad's 70th and struggled with the cellophane.
I just remembered i had some red crepe paper in my stock cupboars that i bought in the sale and done a test run on a hamper i have nearly finished, (without sealing it up) and it looks great also killing 2 birds with 1 stone as the person cant see whats in it !!
I will dress it up with some gold ribbon i have bought and hey presto!!

My dad is 65 next year and I wanted to do something special for him so will be interested what people come back with
Could do a journal jar to get your dad thinking back and writing down some of his memories.
Could do quotes/phrases in a jar/in a book about being 60.
Jar of your dad's favourite sweets.
How about a survival kit (again can put in a jar - I love jar pressies!). Pop in funny things like a few marbles to help when loosing your own etc.
Scrapbook of your dad with photos, comments etc.
I've found these useful when looking for what happened on certain days...

Brilliant baskets yet again savingholmes!!! You have a real knack of putting fab stuff together and it not costing the earth
I really love those tin lunchboxes, am going to have to try and get to Asda this week...;)
Next project I'm working on is a 30th birthday. I've just personalised a journal, pictures will follow. I have a small dog themed tray that I got from H&B for guess what... a whole 49p. She is into dogs, so I have a pooch themed present.... The works are selling dog themed books (like with quotes and funny pictures) for 99p and £1.99 etc. So looks great at low cost. Because the tray is soooo small, I'm not doing a journal in a jar, I'm just going to paste in some ideas to get her started.....
I'm also trying to get stuff together for a family members 40th but have very few pictures of us when we were small so that might prove difficult.... I've done the journal in a jar thing as per my posts yesterday but I want to do them a book of appreciation or something too. We don't see each other often, but as a child they meant a lot to me....
I'm also planning a garden journal (where does the time go?) Not on housework that's for sure.:rotfl:Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

RustyFlange wrote: »Well I finally got round to printing out a picture of the children to put in the frame for my grans basket. Then I wrapped it.
Total of approx £7 spent. Value approx £15 ish.
The brown underneath the hamper is a pair of fleecey pj's for my gran as she feels the cold and I simply wrapped them in parcel paper just so the colours didn't clash with the basket.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

savingholmes - if you're thinking of doing a gardening journal theres a freebie download -I put the link on here (I think) but can't find it..........
Will pop back and edit it on............
Here you are.........I'd put it on Greenfingers as well. All printed out would make nice pressy in a folder. Some pages more use than others maybe
