Hi all, I've jusy made up a little basket for my friend who is going through a really rubbish time at the moment. I had all the bits at home (you basket makers have got me into buying bits when I see them and storing away for when they are needed!).

    th_IMGP2033.jpg th_IMGP2029.jpg th_IMGP2036.jpg

Basket was from Dunn Elm £1.99 (going to have to get more of these they are so cute!); Celtic music CD was a freebie - someone on this thread posted link about it (sorry can't remember who but thanx lots!); Cupcake notebook £1.20ish; Cupcake mug from Homebase £1.80 on a 10% day; homemade flannel cupcake £1ish; Price's candle in a jar from Au Naturele closing down sale £1; homemade lemon bathsalts in a jar with wooden scoop £3.50ish (jar from Ikea was £2, scoop 75p).

Hope she likes it, just wish it was a basket of miracles as she could do with some at the moment.

Ok so I am now doing another hamper ... In need of a couple of extra ideas ..

It will be for my elderly next door neighbour she lives on her own and is very lonely after her husband died a few years ago. She mentioned the other day (when we were having a natter over the fence) that she is struggling to sleep.

Anyway I was thinking a few little pots of Jams
a small pot which can be used for pot pourri
A bag of lavender pot pourri (placed at side of bed to help her relax)
a couple of various sachets of malt drinks (horlicks, ovaltine etc)
Can anyone else think of some nice but fairly cheap ideas.

my first post on this thread loving it ,i made a couple gift baskets at christmas and they went down well

    how about an eye mask
    herbal tea
herbal sleeping tablets like kalms (check any other meds)
some lavender pillows which you could slip inside her pillow
how about some massage oil designed for relaxation to rub on temples and wrists
how about downloading some relaxing sounds we have a waves cd that always sends me off!!

    HTH

Ideas please for a birthday basket for my 17 year old niece who literally has 'everything'! Would also appreciate some tips on where to find the latest bargains to put into it. I've made Christmas baskets for friends and neighbours but this is my first attempt for a younger person. Thanks and I promise to post a piccie when its done :D

My grandaughter is 16 this year and is another one who has 'everything'.....so this year from me she's getting a basket full of oddments like

    trendy handbag
some hair bands and bobbly bits
    mobile phone charm
    nail decorations
miniature nail varnishes (the glittery sort)
    silky sort of scarf
    notebook (very decorative and girly)

And whatever else I can come across. She has a birthday at Christmas too
    Mary

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Hi Polly, how about a real girlie basket with nail varnishes, little bottles of smelly lotions and potions, cute socks, chocolates, small bottle bucks fizz...

I tend to buy things as I see them rather than buy all things in one go so I get best price and spread the cost. Boots is a good one for pressies for a 17 yo, if you have an Advantage Card you could use your points to buy bits for your basket and if you use the Advantage Card machine thing in the store it will often churn out vouchers with good deals on (think someone on here mentioned a voucher from this machine for a completely free product!?!?).

For the actual basket you could try Wilko's, Matalan, Tesco...

Hope that helps, I know I've rambled on a bit!:rotfl:

that is fantastic :D co-incidentally I have finished mine today too. In the end it turned out as a chilli/spices basket. It is for OH's birthday on Wednesday so will take a photo as late as possible in case he spots it on the camera.
