Cooking thin sliced frying steak...

I had to freeze some frying steak as I had to make an unexpected trip.
How would be the best way to use this up ? Is still good as frying steak or better used in a casserole or something??0 -
Should be fine as I have to freeze as I can only shop for meat once a month. Use for stirfry or marinade in beer, chilli, garlic and herbs and grill for fajitas.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

We have a large market in y town and about once a month Mr Spendless goes and stocks up our freezer, but he will insist on getting frying steak. I'm not a fan of it I find it a tough cut of meat. Is there anything I can do to it to either make it more tender or can I cook it in a different way to frying which might make it more tender.0

Hi Spendless,
I think with frying steak you either have to fry it very quickly over a high heat or cook it very slowly...otherwise it goes very tough.
There's an older thread that should help:
Cooking frying steak...
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep all the suggestions together.

Spendless...you could slice it into strips for stirfrying before you freeze...even 'marinade' with some soy sauce, olive oil and chopped garlic in the freezer...it should then be more tender when you take it out to cook.

I sometimes use frying steak for beef stroganof (sp?). If you cut it into strips, brown it, then remove while you fry the onion, then the mushrooms, then return the steak & onions to the pan, add some stock and simmer for 15-20 mins, it ends up tender. Add the mushrooms at the end for a couple of minutes to heat them through, just before you add the sour cream.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

Oh I can feel steak and onions coming on:o
Nothing better than frying steak done in the oven with onions and gravy and the long slow cooking makes the meat incredibly tender

I've used frying steak in the slow cooker to make a beef in ale casserole, and it turned out lovely and tender. Here I go again on my own....0

I have a pressure cooker & before frying the steak I wrap it in foil & pop it into the pressure cooker for 2 or 3 minutes. Pressure cookers are great for tenderising any kind of meat before frying, grilling or roasting I find. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I've got some frying steak, but i want to do something a bit different with it and i'm searching for inspiration. I've heard a brandy sauce is good with it buti i'd really appreciate some ideas.0
