Cooking thin sliced frying steak...

Firstly apologies if this is not the right place to post,,,I have been looking for the correct place and have no idea.
I have some Lidl frying steak I bought for steak sandwiches but it wasn't nice and was tough even though Ii never over cooked it.
I have some in the freezer and wondered if i can slow cook it or other and make a stroganoff or something,,I certainly dont want to fry it again. It wasn't expensive but i do not want to waste it and am trying to include it in my meal plan this coming week.
Any ideas?

I think slow cooking would be the best thing, anything slow cooked is tender. I have used frying steak for various casseroles and it has always been fine.Away with the fairies.... Back soon0

Put it between pieces of cling film and batter it out to about 5mm thick with a rolling pin. Coat it in seasoned flour and sear it briefly in a hot pan (or cast iron casserole if you have one). Take it out of the pan and fry a sliced onion in the same juices. Then tip the onion and steak into an oven proof casserole, cover with beer and some beef stock, and cook in a low oven (about 160º) for a few hours. It will be absolutely falling apart. You can thicken up the cooking liquid with a bit of cornflour or a roux to make a lovely onion gravy.
You could of course do it in a slow cooker but I'd still sear the beef first and fry off the onion as you'll get far more flavour.0 -

If you do decide to make some sort of stew or cassrole, add half a teaspoon of vinegar to the gravy as it breaks down the sinewss in the meat without changing the flavour xxI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I agree with the posts suggesting slow cooking. Lovely in stews, curries etc, in the slow cooker.0

I did look for a thread first Zippy ,,dunno why i couldnt find it, my searching skills are not too good, have followed tips but it usually takes me ages to find anything or i dont find it,,,or i get disctracted by lots of other fab info ;-)

Another vote for the slow cooker!
Sliced onions, the steak and some guinness, lovely. thicken the gravy and make a pie or serve with mash and peas *drools*

If it's just touch - but tastes OK - another option is to season with salt and pepper (and maybe a bit of fresh rosemary if you have it) then put some cling film on top and whack it till it's pretty thin. This will tenderise the meat a bit - and you can then griddle or fry it quickly for steak sandwiches or whatever.0
