Cooking thin sliced frying steak...

Hi northern_star,
I find that frying steak really needs to be 'flash fried' really quickly or cooked slowly for a long period. It will be fine to cook slowly either in the slow cooker, hob or oven. If you treat it like braising steak it will eventually become tender.

Hi Northern Star, About your tough steak, I usually (well nearly always) wallop any steak or chops with my rolling pin. If you do not have a rolling pin use anything heavy, you have to really bash it hard, I cover meat with cling film to avoid splatters, it looks a bit pathetic but plumps up nicely when cooking.0

I,ve got some in the oven now slow cooked with leeks and carrots, house smells lovely yum yum0

Like others have said, defrost it, bash it and braise it.0

You can braise anything, so don't treat the dog ! But you could try marinading it in a drop of red wine and some herbs perhaps, or make a stroganoff thing, where it's sliced very thinly and cooked very quickly. Yum - perhaps that's what we'll have tonight. If you add lots of mushrooms it's a good way to make a very small bit of steak go a very long way.0

Had food delivered by Asda yesterday and they gave me the wrong meat. Instead of the sirloin steaks I was expecting they gave me Irish thin frying steak.
I tried these before and always end up with something chewy and almost uneatable and this time was no exception.
I got four slices left now that needs to be cooked by tomorrow, is there something I can do with them and end up with nice soft meat? As it is my hubby rather give them to the cat then eating them0 -
I would cut them into thin little pieces and stir fry them quickly with onions/leeks/peppers, mushrooms or just on their own
Nice hot pan with some oil, will only take a few minutes. You can add some soya sauce if you like at the end0 -
Hi greenpixey,
For frying steak to be tender it needs to be fried really quickly over a high heat or braised slowly.
This earlier thread should help:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.
