  • The problem is that your DD had BLACK permdye on her head - notoriously the most difficult colour to get out. I feel the best way is to bleach it out with a blue powder mixture - and that can take quite a few applications. I'm sure this product will work fine on those that use it for less HxC colours (light browns, reds etc)

The best thing for a hair gone wrong is to get to the hairdressers. The reason you're getting ginger out of it is because red pigments are the last to go - even when bleaching. the red pigments are the only thing left between being colour and burning your DD's hair. Getting to the original shade takes experience and practice, but also training.

Strippers work in much the same way as powder mixed bleach does - only a lot softer on the hair. If your DD's hair is still ginger - I'd recommend finding some blue bleach powder and some 10-20 cream developer (Sally's do a very reasonably priced version of both) Get some see-through foils on the patchy ginger bits and bleach them out until you can see they've gone blonde.

Then use a purple or blue toner to take out any brassy bits that are left over - it wont be her original hair, but it will be a lot closer - and easier for her (or less embarrassing for a teenage girl) to grow out the altered hair. The whole lot shouldn't cost more than £20. For future reference Semi-permanent hair dyes do not wash out either, the colour just fades a lot - but not again to the natural. It would probably be worth telling your DDs to use 'instant wash out' hair colours if they want to mess about with things like that.

    - Been dying my hair pink/purple/blue/green/blonde/red/brown/black/rainbow. since I was 14years old.
