Once again, in defence of Scott (no I dont work for him! lol) I have to say that it did work for me quite well on Black Hair. I wasn't expecting complete removal as years of dying and straightening take their toll, but I was impressed with the results. My natural colour is dark brown.

When I have asked Scott a question on the Facebook site he has responded quickly and politely to my queries.

Scott, you need permission from MSE to post here in an official capacity, so may be best to drop a board guide a PM :)

I've used ColourB4 when a 'medium dark brown' dye went jet black, and also had a personal reply from Scott through Facebook.

I see it that Scott is so passionate/'into' hair colouring/styling etc that he wants to help as much as he can, and possibly takes it as a personal insult when people start to 'slag off' his products that he has no doubt worked so hard to get right. I imagine it is heart wrenching when you are helping thousands of people (who probably don't all post positive feedback) and then some who don't get the results and fly off the handle insulting everywhere they go.

Anyway, as I said, everyone has different experiences with products, and it's not fair just to listen to one side. As a consumer forum, we know this.

Scott, a better way may have been to post on here asking Mrs Mum to pm you personally or similar to sort it out? A company/representative taking the time to reply to someone personally, and privately, still gets my vote.

If the emails clear his name then why not?! I see what you are saying, but Debenhams are a faceless company, Scott Cornwall is an individual as well as a company which I feel blurs the lines a little.

Who is to say that his emails would be real? We have no way of knowing whether either side is being honest, but the fact remains that this is a forum for consumers.

If Scott Cornwall has chosen to make himself into a brand, then he takes the good and bad that go with it. In that respect, there is no difference between Scott Cornwall Ltd (or whatever name he trades under) and Debenhams, they are an entity, not an individual.

I have let Abuse know about this thread. It is rare that they will knowingly allow company representatives to engage in 'he says, she says' debates.
    Gone ... or have I?

Aye, probably for the best, probably fault on both sides, and definitely something we will never know the truth of!
  • I thought this product was a god send! Ive been dying my hair black for years, perm and semi perm over and over and attempted to grow it out on a few occasions but always ended up re-dying it out of hatred for my pale blonde roots. When i saw Colour B4 advertised i went on loads of forums and saw how people had rated it depending on their hair dying history and when i felt happy i bought some and slapped it on. I never expected it to turn my hair back to its actual natrual colour and i was more than happy with the results, a kind of reddish dark blonde which is now a great base for me to have highlights or dye it the fabulous bright red ive wanted for years!...it does say that it strips away hairdye build-up and although some may see the info on the box as mis-leading, it depends what result you are looking for...it best to be a little realistic with things like this and maybe just use it as a 'start' to getting your hair back to normal, at the end of the day its only a tenner and you do get what you pay for :)

Ahhhh , a new user who thinks this product is wonderful:cool:.

Just to clarify , the reason some people may find the adverising for the product to be misleading is that this is what Scotts website says about the product....

Colour B4 was formulated to work successfully removing permanent colour in 20 minutes. Therefore this was originally the stated recommended processing time. However, following 12 months consumer feedback, it has been shown that for stubborn colour build up, a longer processing time may be required. Scott Cornwall has therefore updated its user instructions to recommend up to 30 minutes for Regular and up to 60 minutes for Extra.
Scott would like to stress that the original 20 minute recommendation is still valid and in the vast majority of cases this processing time will be sufficient.
The updated instructions simply reflect consumer feedback by confirming that longer processing times can safely be used where appropriate.
We apologise if there has been any confusion over our updated instructions.

Taken from Scotts own website which is in the public domain so cant imagine there will be a problem with me quoting it....

Lets look again at the quote you highlighted though:

This was the bit you highighted.

Cant see the problem with the quote, given that scott is saying "We made a mistake, process for longer.

Depends whether they are still advertising it with the original claim.

    Still [STRIKE]Scott[/STRIKE]Clairebaby seems happy enough.

Whether clairebaby is genuine I don't know, but I have said all along in this thread I'm happy enough with the product.

The problem that I have with the quote pulliptears is that regardless of processing time , the product still claims to remove permenant dye in (insert the processing time) be it 20 , 30 or 60 mins and it does not !

The problem I had was that I was told by the maker of the product to use the product up to 7 times to remove the black hair dye....yet on the box and in the instructions it claims that you should use the product a max of twice?

So , people buy the product thinking that they will need to use the product a max of 2 times to remove their dye when infact what the consumer doesnt realise (until they contact the maker) is that it *may* require anything up to 7 treatments !

    Thats my problem!

Seems you are a fan of the product pulliptears so theres no need for you to defend it any more...I get the point.

There are plenty of other review sites with poor reviews of the product . You tube is also full of people showing off the orange/ginger hair they have been left with after using the product . Scott gave me written consent (in your emails to me Scott incase you are wondering) to publish my reviews so that is what I have done and will continue to do.

We each are entitled to an opinion or to make people aware of the facts of what results we get from a product after we use it and thats exactly what I will continue to do !
The loopy one has gone :j
