Excel Parking Charge Notice George Street Wakefield

I've just received a PCN from Excel Parking for 'allegedly breaching the car park terms and conditions in the privately operated car park at George Street - Wakefield'

The reason for the contravention states, 'Parked without displaying a valid ticket/permit'

I've used this car park many times and have always purchased my ticket and displayed it clearly in my windscreen as i did on the stated day 04/02/2011

They have photo's recording my entry time and exit time which i presume are just photo's snapped while driving in and out of the car park, and not actually of me parked up. (can anyone confirm this, as surely the photo's should relate to the specific offence!??) The photo's are also very dark and unclear, i presume they are just to prove it was my reg no.??

I've read all the other threads on here about other peoples problems with Excel Parking but just want to check where I stand.

My only doubt with this is that in my rush on the day i remember having a hazy forgetful moment with the order of the last three letters on my reg number! and regrettably never double checked that I had typed it in the machine right.

If that is the case, maybe they have more of a case against me? but then again surely all they are entitled to is the actual cost of the parking ticket if anything at all?

I also, having previously had no problems, don't have the ticket i purchased so can't set my mind at rest :(

Their letter is so vague it really doesn't explain or show much evidence at all!

HELP please??!

  • You parked.

    You paid to park.

You may have mistyped your reg number - no loss to them.

    Ignore them.

    Sums it up very concisely
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Don't contact them at all, but expect junk mail through the post requesting payment, and the important part of that is , its a request nothing more, legally you don't have to pay them anything, and unless they took you to court and they won, you don't owe them anything!

Besides all that you paid, just keep the ticket safe ;)

I am kind of angry about it, I am a meticulous person and I always display my ticket and keep everything, this is just a way for this company to gain a fast buck, they also wait 4 weeks before issuing the PCN how many people can say they keep their ticket for that long.. i think it wrong they can get away with it and nobody does anything.

I have sent photocopies of the ticket to them and kept the original safe, I am also forwarding the information to the local MP in wakefield.

They shud be made to stand up for what they are doing

It's not a "fine" it's nothing more than a speculative invoice inviting you to pay a substantial sum to scammers.

Just totally ignore it, it's as simple as that.

What you want to do is print off what's written below and stick it on as many cars as you can.

Trust me, you will be bothering them more than they will bother you because you can get the word out about the scammers and stop other people falling for it.

PRIVATE PARKING TICKETS - DON'T PAY!
IT IS NOT A FINE! YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING ILLEGAL!

This is an information page for the thousands of people who receive "tickets" from private companies in the UK ever day at supermarkets, retail parks, and in any other privately-owned carpark.

We are NOT encouraging anybody to openly flout parking restrictions on private land, or to refuse to pay reasonable charges for parking. Landowners have a right to make reasonable charges for the use of their land.

For advice specific to your case, you should visit the forums at http://forums.pepipoo.com or http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/parking-traffic-offences
    .
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

    1. What you should know about these companies

It is important to remember that private parking companies (or PPCs as they are often called) have NO OFFICIAL POWERS - that's right, none at all! They give out their "tickets" on the basis that you have seen the signs in their car park and that you have therefore agreed to a contract obliging you to pay a certain sum of money.

    2. What happens to people who don't pay?

In 99.9% of cases, absolutely NOTHING! The company pays the DVLA £2.50 to get your address, and then sends lots of threatening letters. In the main, these letters can be safely IGNORED. The only way the company can actually force you to pay is by taking you to the small claims court, which costs them even more money. And they are by no means guaranteed to win! And they practically never do.

The two main reasons for this (among others) are the following:

    - Only the person DRIVING the car could ever have agreed to any such parking contract. The company can only get the Registered Keeper's address from the DVLA: you don't have to tell them who was driving.

-Many of these charges are so extortionately high that they constitute a penalty, which is unenforceable in a consumer contract.

    3. Can they affect my credit rating?

NO! The only way your credit rating could be affected by ignoring private parking companies is if you were taken to court, lost, and then still refused to pay. But they will not take you to court.

    IN SHORT

The vast majority of the time, you can safely IGNORE tickets from private parking companies, they are not official fines.

The vast majority of the time, you can safely IGNORE the threatening letters, including those from debt collection agencies.

You DO NOT have to pay a penny of your hard-earned money to these companies. Remember that the chances of being taken to court are very slim indeed.

    DO NOT IGNORE COURT PAPERS!
If you receive real court papers from a private parking company (very rare) then you should go to http://forums.pepipoo.com or http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/parking-traffic-offences for help defending the claim. Do not be afraid to sign up and ask questions regarding any paperwork you are not sure about.
Don’t believe the above? Watch a solicitor on Watchdog advising you what to do with the scam invoices.
    THEY ARE NOT FINES
Only the Police, Courts or Council’s can fine you. NOT a private company, please remember that.

Print that off and pass thousands to friends family and everyone you know.

Also stick them on cars in car parks.
