Good to know someone else has had the exact same situation happen to them!

I've just received another letter, apparently my fine is now £100 :rotfl:

Surely there's no mug out there daft enough to pay them?!
there are plenty of people (and I won't call them 'mugs') unaware of where they stand legally in respect of these 'fines' and pay up without question.

    which is a shame.

I posted elsewhere about the rakes of cash the dvla generate by disclosing reg. keeper ID (£1.7m). this equates to 680 000 successful applications - the overwhelming majority coming from PPC's (I'm assuming statutory bodies - police, councils, etc - receive RK details free of charge).

reportedly, a third of 'ticket' recipients pay.

assume an average invoice of £50 and you'll begin to see why this 'industry' is so lucrative: the income generated equates to over £10m. a great return for what is often min. outlay by the people who run these rackets.

since i began this thread i'm now upto phonecalls from Graham White solicitors, i wasn't in to take the call myself but i've been told they rang, and will try to contact me again.

Just wondered if anyone has experience of these phonecalls and also if anyone knows when they are likely to get bored and go away? will contact just cease or is there more major letters and phonecalls to come before they give up!

All these threads came up when I searched this sub forum for Roxburghe phone calls:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/search.php?searchid=105792834

Because it is NOT a solicitor phoning you, not Graham White, it's Roxburghe. Read those threads and you will see lots of people were in your shoes and have just needed to knock the phone calls on the head by stating certain things about the debt being denied and the contact being harassment which must cease or you'll report it.

Read those threads on that search result, also the top sticky has a link under one of the Roxburghe letter-chain links, showing how to have fun with them if they phone.

So it's your choice whether to be firm with them to insist they cease and desist with the harassment, or have fun winding them up! Whatever you do you mustn't hide from those calls, and don't worry about them at all.

    Exactly where you stood before!

They are just trawling through some old cases because they are desperate and hope that some idiots will fold and pay!

They are trying the "we are looking though the files to see if anybody is foolish enough to pay our reduced scam amount of £50 before throwing the files into the bin".

It's been a year, if they had a case they would have done court by now.

Yes, the judge. You've done nothing wrong. The PPC hasn't done anything right.

For reason best known to themselves, PPCs do rarely take people to court. Here are the latest ones I know of ...

UK Combined Parking Solutions vs. Murphy, Burnley, 2012, 1QZ30035. The judge told the PPC that their demands were unreasonable, were therefore an unlawful contractual penalty and found in favour of the driver.

Parking Eye vs. Smith, Manchester, 2011, 1XJ81016. The judge told the PPC that their demands were unreasonable, were therefore an unlawful contractual penalty and found in favour of the driver. As it was unpaid, he awarded the PPC the parking charge of £15.00, not the £260.00 penalty. He also awarded them costs of just £95.00, not their claimed £4,457.20.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
