When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:T

Goood morning everyone - am I up first?!;) Well, not strictly 'up'....am still in bed, just grabbed the laptop...it is Saturday after all:D
So...whooopppeeeee, the weekend is with us....and I have no big plans, just a restful one hopefully. Hope you all have a happy and MSE 2 days whatever you're doing:A
Here's my list:
  • check banking
  • check onepoll
  • meals from plan
  • chicken out of freezer for tonight
  • few groceries from T3sco today
  • petrol at T's too
  • low spend day
  • dust and hoover upstairs
  • ironing
  • tidy/dust/hoover lounge
  • sort old ipods to list on ebay
  • heating on low
Ok, that's all I can think of for now - have a fab day:beer:
I really need to sort out a new signature!

Morning all! I know I've been a weekend contributor lately but I do try to keep up with you all!

Went out last night with the dept from school to a swanky restaurant in Manchester (think Corrie stars and footballers!) and although it was nice it cost a bomb!
I had some of the cheapest things on the menu (it helps being a veggie sometimes!) and just 1 drink and my bit of the bill came to £40! The total bill for 9 people was £500:eek::eek:

Then there was the taxi home - another £15 - but it could have been worse as I shared one with a colleague.
So I'm staying in tonight! I had budgted £40 for the whole thing so not a happy bunny and the food was nice but not THAT nice!

Anyway, more spending on the horizon today - the dog needs his hair cut - another £25:(

    So today's list is...
    • Walk dogs
    • Do a shopping list and go to Mr T's (have a £3 off voucher)
    • Take dog for haircut
    • Phone hairdressers for appt for me for next weekend
    • Clean house - like a bomb has dropped, 2 dogs definitely makes it messier!
    • At least 2 loads of washing
    • Maybe an hour of school work
    • Look at budgets again - poorer than anticipated now:o
    • Maybe have a sleep later - am shattered
That's it for now - hope you all have a good day xx
  • Morning....

    Thanks for the thread...

    II've already checked banking

Need to catch up one poll/valued opinions

Off to parents tomorrow for lunch ( need to ask for an invite)

SIL goes home today so planning quiet night at home in peace...

    Hi everyone

    Fab weekend coming up!!

Me - 3 hours of "power yoga" in prep for my teacher training course!! Got a 3 hour course today, full day course in April and then starts for real in May (full weekend). Eek. Slightly nervous, even though I know I shouldn't be - have met some of the people before and everyone is really nice but still got a bit of the "what if I can't do it?!" nerves! :o :j  all at once!

Tonight I'm in all night and OH is out so I'm chilling out on the sofa - 'treating' myself to something nice from M and S at the station for tea :p

    Listypops:
    • Pre-booked train tickets - nice saving
    • Walk to and from station - 2 mile walk each way - nice
    • Pre-booked course - £5 off
    • Take snacks from half price Graze box :T I love it. Think today's treat will be raisins, pineapple and pecans or Loco in Acapulco as it's called :)
    • Reading on the train
    • Checked phone bill - much nicer amount!
    • Pay off cc so I can go ahead with balance transfer before 31 March - payment isn't due until 14 April...
    • Need to budget £6 more for yoga this month - 1 extra class in the block
    • Knitting some flowers for tea cosy http://www.beautifulstring.com/2010/07/pattern-camomile-lawn-tea-cosy.html - 1 down; 6 to go!
    • Check onepoll
    • Emailed e bay about invoice amount not including a Final Value Fee that was credited to me. Boo to non-payers!
Think that'll do me for one day/weekend.

Tomorrow I'm planning on housework/organising/pretending we're getting ready to put the house on the market... Think I'll attack the living room unit and get rid of all unnecessaries... We'll see how it goes...:(

Welshwoofer - crikey, that sounds steep! I bet most people sitting round the table were thinking the same thing but no one wanted to say. I'm coming to your neck of the woods today - really love Manchester - reminds me of home (Glasgow)! :D

    Take care everyone!

Catch up with you maddies when I'm 'exhilarated - united in dynamic and creative movement'! That's what the blurb says about the course anyway! :rotfl:

Can't believe how well you do on onepoll! :T I'm only at £4.85 and keep getting screened out... Boo! Do you find surveys come and go throughout the day? I only ever check it once a day and usually there are no surveys available...
