We are thinking about investing in a popcorn machine to use at our PTA events. Has anyone recently purchased one and can advise where from and if it has proven to be worth the investment?
I can't remember if we used one at PTA events, but we did use one at an afterschool club (on Movie Night!) You want to look carefully at how much it produces in each batch and how long you can run them for: I think it used to get very hot if we made several batches in quick succession, and that was for less than 30 children. This was really just a 'domestic' family machines: as with chocolate fountains there's a wide range available and you might want to get a fairly solid machine!

we bought one a couple years back and use it regularly, at our fayres, various other school events/fundraisers and also try to hire it out in between. It pays for itself pretty quickly. The supplies are not expensive and all you need to do is have somewhere to store it and ensure you always have the necessary supplies prior to an event. It's a fun and easy way to bring in easy cash and its fun too :).
We bought ours from a company in North London and they are just great, we still buy our supplies from them. Call them and see what they can do for you. 0800 - 711 - 7406 /popcornandcandyfloss.com
  • Just a little 'bump' to let you all know of the fundraiser we are working on at the moment.
It's 'Ye Olde Christmas shopping night' with us all in victorian fancy dress. Have a traditional choir, roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, warm mince pies, loads of stall holders selling their lovely home made goods, reatil outlets running stalls, a mini pancake maker, bar with tea/coffee/cakes, a victorian tea room is being set up with fine bone china tea cups/saucers/side plates/milk jugs and sugar bowls, lace doilies, and pictures all of which i spent hours sourcing from car boots in the rain:)
We are havingthe library filled with lit trees/decs and having 'story time with Mrs Clause' in there to kieep the kids entertained. £1 for 30 mins includes a story read by mrs clause, a hot choc and a cookie.

Will update as i go, and let you all know how much we make on this one!
    is officially a GLEEK
