if you get a pm that tells you how to go back to Feb 1st to ensure you get the extra mile let us all know.

On your other comments I cant imagine how asking for full information can be classed as not coming out of a thread vey well. From the beginning all that was asked was for the OP to post a) all of the details and b) once we had the details how to ensure the cost of purchasing the miles wasnt wasted if you didnt get a "glitch" but found you had wasted all of that money because you hadnt entered an address as at Feb 1st. Glitches are great when they are assured but when not are a waste of money.

We are all here to save money but from this thread everyone end up frustrated and I only HOPE no one took the PM advice and bought the miles or they could end up with worthless mile, not getting a flight they want and then MSE wont have done what it was created for.

I note that about 3 pages of this thread has been 'trimmed' as alternated between willy waving, petty comments and was systematic of rubbish pack dogs.

Unfortunately the OP hasn't covered himself with glory. But to be honest if i'd been faced with the initial comments (which may or may not have been removed) it would have got my back up as well. It's not like they were a new poster - they are well established - so why not give them the benefit of the doubt as opposed to baiting them? Perhaps with more genuine requests and less of the churlishness we might have something interesting on our hands.

I guess we'll never know now, which is a great shame as I had some wonderful plans for my time machine.

I think where it all fell apart was the OP suggesting there was some way to cheat the date of membership criteria. (and omitting to mention the little matter of US/PR residency at all)

Mistake fares, weird and wonderful routings to get the fuel surcharges and taxes to vanish are bending "rules" (and to me fair game)but this was a step too far with two major conditions impossible for 99.99% of forum members without attempting to commit fraud.. He also didn't mention that in addition to the cost of the miles taxes still needed to be added to the tune of £200ish . Lots of willy waving and not much substance (but then I suppose that is what willy waving is ;) )

Whoever did the editing didn't check for quoted posts - the one where the OP refers to those flying in economy as peasants is still there.

On a personal note, I am always impressed at anyone that has the, erm, equipment to truly willy wave ... 'Tis a rare sight. ;)

What is interesting is the manner in which the thread has been trimmed, with relevant inoffensive requests for further information removed?

I don't think I have ever seen a thread so sympathetically edited in favour of one poster, it's almost as if the OP themselves had edited it. ;)

Are you implying that the OP is indeed Martin Lewis - calling moneysavers 'peasants'?

Now that would be a great story!

It is quite bizarre isn't ... Am sure Google cache could provide more though. ;)

I understand your general point and agree.

However, i'm not sure what you deem to be 'draconian', and i'm not sure the words 'dangerous' or 'fraud squad' really fit into this.

    .

Getting stopped at check-in (at either origin or destination) and the full fare demanded , fare difference taken off card, prosecution for fraud- all have happened to people in the past.

All airlines have "revenue protection" departments.

It's a risk some people care to take and others don't.

Lets say you managed to build the time machine in this instance and got past the membership on 1 Feb condition-if you were stopped checking in and asked to produce proof of US residency -you'd have difficulty without a greencard, US driving licence, social security number etc. The fact they could see you were travelling on the ESTA which would be detailed in your booking would make you very easy to flag up.

Fraud would be very easy to prove.

That is exactly the point I was making!

Also for the OP to post the quote below implies he has worked the scam eight times.
Who is the one with 4 trips booked in First Class, and another 400K in the bank?

I suspect not many 'US residents with a PO address' will make that many return trips from UK. Also to offer to PM strangers giving details of how to defraud US Air seems a little unwise;)
